You'll most often find me curled up with a cup of Bengal Spice tea, a good book, and at least one cat for company. I live for the chaos of thunderstorms, the relentless surge of the ocean, and the silence of the Oregon forests. I'm fueled by the passion, curiosity, and creativity of those around me.

There were once high hopes of productivity and defying procrastination brain.

And then my mom brought home an 8-week old kitten.
Goodbye hopes, hello adorable distraction. 🩵

Photo 1: The image shows a small kitten curled up asleep. The kitten has a black and gray fur pattern with a white patch on its chest and white paws. It is resting on a soft blanket with a floral pattern that includes leaves and flowers in shades of gray, white, and pale blue. There is also a strand of dark brown human hair across the blanket near the kitten. The kitten appears peaceful and comfortable in its cozy spot.
Photo 2: The photo shows a woman with long, straight dark hair, wearing a maroon t-shirt. She is holding a small gray kitten close to her chest. The kitten appears to be sleeping or resting peacefully. The woman is looking down at the kitten with a gentle expression. In the background, there's a bright orange lamp with a white shade on a side table, and a part of a gray sofa is visible. The woman has a tattoo of a butterfly on her left forearm.
Photo 3: The photo shows a woman with long, straight black hair and a joyful expression, holding a small gray kitten with white markings on its face. She is wearing a maroon t-shirt and has a tattoo of a butterfly on her left forearm. The woman is seated indoors with a decorative orange lamp with a white shade visible in the background, along with a gray sofa and a partial view of a window with blinds. The kitten appears to be sleeping comfortably in her hands.
Photo 4: The image shows a small kitten curled up comfortably against a person. The kitten has a gray and white coat with a distinct patch of brown over its back and tail. Its eyes are half-closed, suggesting it is relaxed or sleepy. The person is wearing a dark red shirt and blue jeans, and the kitten is resting on a blanket with a leaf pattern. The overall scene conveys a sense of warmth and contentment.

Throwing this out there for anyone who might be interested in participating or who would just like a place to find potentially interesting books. :)

We are currently voting on a self-help/psychology genre, the results for which will be announced tonight. The winners will be discussed on May 18 and June 1 at 8:00 pm eastern.

Message me if you have any questions, but otherwise anyone is free to check it (and us) out!

We have text-based social and creative writing chats on WhatsApp, and our book discussions take place over Zoom.

I'm also working on making the site more visually formatted/pleasing.

Me: recalls the exact location of a random one-off item I stored 2 months ago down to its precise placement within a container
Also me: walks through a doorway and forgets who I am and what I am doing here

A common tip I see given to people with is to keep things within line of sight, such as placing produce on the shelves of a fridge rather than in a drawer. My understanding is that to be visible is to be less easily forgotten about.

I often struggle with following through on small tasks that (theoretically) are easier when someone can see that something is out of place: a cabinet left open while putting away dishes, a cooking ingredient left on the counter, a plant in need of watering, etc. Do or people have any tricks you use to help with this sort of thing?

These are just some random little examples, but hopefully my general point is clear. I know that being able to see something does not automatically equate to it being easier, but since line of sight is so common within ADHD advice spaces, I figured I'd ask if there are any blindness specific tips and tricks. 😊

What songs or artists have you been listening to and loving lately? As usual, any genre or era welcome! 💙I’ve really enjoyed adding some new things to my library because of you all.

My sister (age almost 25) and I send completely random emoji as acknowledgement that we received the other’s message, when an actual response isn’t necessary.
Her: We’re on the way!
Me: <floppy disk emoji>
Her: wtf is that?
Me: sighs go ask your mother.

I ordered Instacart this afternoon, and have been watching the delivery time slip until it got to 10:45 PM and I rescheduled it to tomorrow. I ordered Uber Eats for today's dinner, and the order was picked up 30 minutes ago, with a constantly slipping delivery time. We are way past the estimated arrival and I'm sure it's cold by now. Is reality broken? Maybe everything outside my apartment is just frozen in time.

purrsnikitty,

@simon Nothing is real. Reality has ceased to exist.

Got some really cool stuff last time I did this, so again I ask, what songs have you been listening to and loving this past week? Any and all genres/styles welcome <3 Broaden my horizons!

I will be traveling soon! Please to give me some audiobook recommendations.

@objectinspace Not sure what you’re into, but I like full cast narration. Six of Crows and The Illuminae Files come to mind as really great audio books.

People who have lived with roommates, and in particular ones who were strangers beforehand: do you have any suggestions for how to make it a smooth transition into a healthy living situation? Are there things you wish you would have known, done, or said before moving in together? I’ll be sharing an apartment with a random person starting the end of this month, and I’m open to any and all advice! I’ve only ever lived with fellow students, family, or on my own, and at no point since becoming an adult did I have to share a bathroom. I’ll be meeting him inn person tomorrow, and we’ve been chatting to get to know each other for the last week or so.

It is remarkable to me that people put each other down when someone is excited about something, just because that excitement isn’t shared or fully understood by the other person. Like, I don’t care if I know nothing about the thing that brings you happiness or if it’s not something that matters to me much personally; I want you to be happy. I will squee right along side you just because your joy brings me joy, and it sure is something difficult to come by these days.

1/20: Do you have a blog? I do, and I actually just updated it for the first time in almost a year. I write only sporadically despite wanting to more often.

I primarily write about mental health and navigating relationships. It's very personal in some ways, but I also aim to keep it broad enough that others can relate to it in some capacity. I like making people feel seen or understood. I hope to branch out into other topics and ideas, but that motivation is still lacking.

Asking for help is very much not in my list of strengths, but I'm pretty desperate. I've got one very sick cat currently in a vet hospital, and one cat who is exhibiting symptoms that I need to get examined as soon as possible. I would be incredibly grateful for any assistance anyone can provide. The financial aspect is hitting me very hard on top of the overwhelming worry for their safety and health. Please share if you can. ❤️

Looking for people, especially those who are or , who live or have lived in the , Oregon area. I find myself in the exciting but stressful position of needing a place to live in a few months, and I'm exploring my options. I'd love to connect with someone who can answer some questions!

Trying to visit amazon.com presents me with a "Sorry, we just need to make sure you're not a robot" prompt. There is only a visual CAPTCHA without an option for an alternative. Has anyone else encountered this/is there a way around it? This is after I switched over to Firefox Nightly, though I've seen it once before with a different browser.

Any screenreader users familiar with the Scrivener app, especially on Windows? Been waiting years for an accessible version and it seems like this year is still not that year. The first Google search result for Scrivener accessibility is a testimonial praising them above all other software for their devotion to usability, and either I'm crazy, or this is definitely not what I'd call usable. Wondering if it's an NVDA issue? At least their installer is accessible now, I suppose.

the MacOS and iOS apps are great. I'll probably just use it on Mac, but I keep hoping (after soooo many promises) that it'll end up being usable on Windows.

It's that time of year again where I start planning my novel in the hopes that something sticks! Any other out there participating this year? I'm always eager for accountability partners or even just creative people to check in on for inspiration and motivation.
