"Generative AI will be great for coding! It will reduce our development time for products so much!"
All the dev-background folx in my feed:
"Sure, #CoPilot will generate plausible code for you really quickly, but who's going to write your unit tests and make sure there aren't any insidious errors at a #systems level that you can't identify in a single block of code in isolation?"
I realise it’s probably just baked in culture war shit but it makes no fucking sense to me that politicians insist on trying to keep fossil fuel power going when the companies that own it are trying to shut it down. What the fuck is anyone gaining from this?
The first time I became aware of the Brave Browser was when they decided they would "allow" people to support creators with their particular crypto turd BAT.
Great, fine, wonderful, except of course that they did all this without talking to the creators so now there were people thinking they were supporting creators and creators not actually getting support.
When called on it Brave simply said that it's okay, all the creators had to do was validate themselves with Brave and then jump through hoops to convert the BAT to something you could use to actually buy food.
@jonoabroad if you wish, I'm actually curious about this, part of me thinks that it misses the point but I would like to know from people who it directly affects
