Holy fuck, I just signed up to a site and it sent me a confirmation message WITH MY PASSWORD IN PLAIN TEXT.

Not an automatically generated one but the supposedly secure one I am meant to use to sign in!

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

Awww they've "disabled" the right click button as well.

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

And in no way surprising, it's a WP site.

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

Whelp, I'll be cancelling my account and sending an email I think.

Oh, no I won't. There doesn't seem to be a way to

a) Delete my account
b) Change my password

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

@franksting yeah in the early 2000s?

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

Okay, polite but firm email sent.

I haven't mentioned the site because it appears to have been put together by a hobbyist so I'm not going shame them publicly.

But ye gods

You know you've made the wrong decision when the national society of librarians calls you on your homophobic nonsense.

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

@KathyReid honestly i don't think that's going to bother them as much as you might think. Look at the US where politicians have put forward bills to criminalise being a member of the national library association there

oh cool, the first data from the National Audit of Mobile Coverage (first time govt has independently tried to map mobile coverage in Australia instead of relying on the telcos to self-report) is now live

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

@decryption @trib honestly surprised they haven't reached out to Google, surely the street car would be capturing data like that

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

@decryption @trib I wonder. They used to (probably still do) capture wifi network information as they drive passed.

Wouldn't be too much of a stretch to capture Mobile network data. If nothing else, it helps to map where people can and can't access their services

@decryption oooh that looks like a shiny new 386

You know the Rabbit R1 device was created by a bunch of male software nerds, because they named an electronic device "rabbit", non-ironically.

🐰

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

@KathyReid I'm really struggling not to ask what is probably an inappropriate question

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

@KathyReid yes hence I was going to ask if the rabbit r1 had a vibrate function

Wtf is man vs bear?

purserj,
@purserj@aus.social avatar

@jonoabroad @kcarruthers yes. Tiktok has pretty strict filters around mentions of death and harm.

Huh, so in the Shellharbour area we have 4 Woolworths super markets, 1 Coles, 2 Aldis and a smattering of IGAs and Foodworks.

They're building a new super market near our house (which yay), have a guess what Super Market Giant is going in there

    Soooo the headline:

    'Aussie equivalent' of IRA needed for clean energy shift

    Is a little concerning?

    Kinda jealous of people with younger kids than me that get Bluey. We had Octonauts who won’t explain who funds their aquatic missions and are obviously pirates.

    @Jplonie @franksting @smperris @geordie when I were a lad we didn't have no Bluey, we had to make out own wiggles with second hand skivvies and a sock with Dorothy written on it
