Leftists (but also everyone else): please fucking criticise Israel's genocide of Palestine without being anti-semitic, fuckers.

Gods.

And, yes, that includes sly allusions to Jews having been the real Nazis all along.

The fuck is wrong with you.

The state of Israel is perpetrating its own unique abomination that we can (and must) decry as an atrocity on its own terms.

Your "Jews are Nazis" schtick is not fucking helping shit.

(If you can read this, I almost certainly am not referring to you.)

@HauntedOwlbear obviously "it's anti-Semitic" should be reason enough to stop spreading conspiracy theories etc about Jewish people, but on top of that it's literally making things worse for Palestinians! If govts and corps are trying to dismiss anti-genocide protests as "anti-Semitic", how the hell do ppl think it'll help free Palestine to give real evidence of "pro-Palestinians" being actually anti-Semitic? It's like they're just using the genocide as an excuse

it's such a shame that the Democrats decided to lose the election

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@chombo in 2020 I thought it was ridiculous when people were posting conspiracy theories of Biden only being there to do such a shit job that Trump wins again in 2024 despite how much the general public hated him while in office. I'd like to apologize to anyone who posted that theory because it's seeming more and more plausible over time

Libraries will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no libraries. - Anne Herbert

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@frog_reborn @lunastation I guess I don't have a frame of reference for having money and no libraries, but libraries were a big deal for my family when we were homeless and the quote tracks to me 🤷 I think we were "actually poor" when we had to eat at salvation army lol

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@frog_reborn @lunastation it's fair to say that you would trade books for better material conditions. It's not fair to say that if someone says libraries help get people through hard times, they must have never had them. I'm also currently under the poverty line and would probably trade libraries for the ability to pay for both food and rent, but I'm not going to diminish the experiences of others over it

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@frog_reborn @lunastation I figured you only were talking about the poor part. Do you know from experience what it's like to live with money in a world without libraries? If so, I'll gladly take your word for it
But sometimes poor people care about libraries and I will die on the hill that my experiences happened

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@frog_reborn @lunastation we don't need to keep arguing. My point was essentially that's fair, I only mentioned you in the first place because you said the person quoted must have never been poor. If you don't stand by that statement and are willing to accept that poor people's experiences are diverse, then we're in agreement. I think it's totally fine that the quote doesn't fit your experiences, and I'm sorry if I seemed to be demanding that it does. That wasn't my intention

Humans will say shit like "I can't wait till we find aliens so we can meet other 'intelligent life'" but humans also decided all of the other sentient and sapient creatures on our planet don't count as "intelligent life" just cuz they're not us so like... Good luck with that?

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

Oh, you want to talk to someone who has complicated vocal languages that can express many different things? How about whales?
Oh they also have to use tools? Meet crows.
But buildings and civilizations are a must! Soo beavers? Ants even?
There are so many amazing beings on this one planet that we can interact with, we don't need to go find aliens. Maybe we should just, I dunno, keep this planet habitable?

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@puppygirlhornypost perisex trans people (especially nonbinary people) owe intersex people so much more solidarity than most of us give them. They're not just a pawn for arguments of our validity, and I really hope that I come across as someone safe to have community with. I think a lot of the time we can trust that intersex people are probably not transphobic like we can with other trans people, and I wish that also worked vice versa but from what I've seen it really doesn't

Today I learned that the endocrine system, CAN bus, and old time pagers work roughly the same way, pumping the system with messages that can be seen my everyone but are supposed to only be picked up by the addressee.

This is not a useful analogy for anyone but me.

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@troublewithwords I mean it's useful to me because I already knew how the endocrine system works but now I know a fun fact about pagers and whatever a CAN bus is

whenever anyone uses the phrase "for the time being" i like to capitalize it in my head.

"for the Time Being, these are the available options"

"this is the situation for the Time Being"

all hail the Time Being

Y'all want to hear a fact that really changed the way I thought about homelessness?

Half of all homeless people were in the foster system at some point. Social Workers often call the foster system The Highway to Homelessness. If you ever had a point in your life where you had to live with friends or family to for a short time to get back on your feet, remember that is a privilege that not everyone had.

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@quantumg @Rayston @RickiTarr yeah no. When I was homeless I would regularly think I wanted to go home, but I could never pinpoint a location. Wanna know why? Because I was fucking homeless! And because I grew up in poverty and my entire life has been moving frantically trying to find a permanent place to stay and never, to this day, finding one. But I've always wanted a home. I have a feeling this is more common than people who decided they don't want one.

Is Trump ahead in the polls, because Biden is losing support amongst one of his key demographics: Black men? Or are the polls all a lie?

Trump ahead in polls?
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/13/us/politics/biden-trump-battleground-poll.html

Biden camp doesn't believe the polls?
https://www.axios.com/2024/05/14/biden-polls-denial-trump-2024-election

Either way, the most important thing to do, is to ignore, insult, argue with, and generally disrespect, Black men online! 🤡 Find a Black man, and yell "Trump is worse!" in his face as hard as you can! Swear at him, and threaten him with violence!

@Aviva_Gary @mekkaokereke the people who have great lives under Democratic mini-fascism are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure they never have to experience what marginalized people do, so they want to make sure we stay under Democrats. But once their needs are met, they don't really give a shit about the rest of us, so they're content with just repeating the same cycle every 4 years while never fighting for the rights of those who are already oppressed no matter who's in office

raphaelmorgan,
@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social avatar

@thepoliticalcat @Aviva_Gary @mekkaokereke people with marginalized kids don't have "great lives" while their kids are at a high risk of medical malpractice or police brutality, unless they live in denial. Those who do live in denial about it are often no exception to what I said, and those who are constantly terrified for their kids' safety were never included in the first place.

As far as generalizations, I'm sure there are exceptions to my blanket statement, and yk what? They'll live.
