Strongly considering starting yet another version of Monica. I fear the new version is too complex and adds too much customization capabilities.
A new version, with only the core features, with simple technologies, without Vue, only Laravel + Blade + HTMX when needed. The simplest possible stack.
@stefanzweifel Oh! It made me realize that Plexamp exists for macOS with the iOS app, and it's great since I used the plex web version which is not as good as the dedicated music app.
It's not a popular opinion amongst movie lovers, but while Children of men is a good movie with 2 excellent scenes, I don't understand why it's classified as almost a masterpiece.
What should I know before open-sourcing my program?
My goal is to improve it by letting people submit changes, and making it easier for me to ask for help. I would still make the final call on decisions.
(Blog posts welcome! Boost if you care. The program is @songpocket)
The more I think about it, the more I think that Oppenheimer earning 1B$ last year was a big misunderstanding.
Honestly. It was a decent movie. But it was 1) way too long, 2) a bit boring, 3) not visually appealing (no clue why you would want to see it in IMAX).
Nolan without his brother is not a great director.
@stefanzweifel@robb I've been using Raycast for a year. It has completely replaced Alfred for me.
Also, AI integration inside Raycast is truly the secret weapon. I thought it was a gimmick - how wrong I was.
I've recently started watching Yellowstone, the TV show, and I must say, it's been a great experience.
I just finished the first season and it's incredibly well-written and directed. Characters have depth. It's refreshing to come across such high-quality shows, and I understand the hype.
@ivomynttinen@plexamp Exactly this.
I've obtained FLAC versions of all the albums I love. Put them in your Plex instance. And enjoy. The iOS Plexamp app (which is their dedicated music app) is extremely good and well thought.
It means I don't have to worry about publishers removing music from streaming platforms, or Apple Music deciding to delete all my music, for instance.
@ivomynttinen Yes, the port is open for Plex to be publicly accessible, but it's still only accessible if you are authenticated.
I've been on the Plexamp subreddit for a while now, and your point really doesn't seem to be an issue at all.
Overall, I've found Plexamp so great that I've subscribed to Plex Pro - something I didn't even consider before despite having a huge movies library.
@ivomynttinen You just have to consider that owning your own music means no possibility to discover new music.
I don't mind personally. But some people do.
I'll be aware of new music through other channels - dedicated podcasts, some subreddits, newsletters.
It's so great to be independent again in my music consumption. I truly feel free - weird things to say about music, but still.
While making my PHP packages compatible with Laravel 11 the last few weeks, I've also spent some time and added PHPStan to all of them.
The more simpler ones are already on level 9. The more complex are still on level 5 or 6. I'm still a novice when it comes to proper type documentation. Goal is to increase levels throughout the year.
Fourth time's the charm? Been trying to switch to #Neovim for a couple months. First tried writing my own config from scratch, got frustrated, tried a couple of distributions, found that even more frustrating (they do too much and changed old vim defaults, which is intolerable, so I had to undo a lot). Blew it all away today and started again with the "kickstart" (https://github.com/nvim-lua/kickstart.nvim), which is immediately more palatable to my old vim soul. No weird keymaps (Lazyvim changes s|S!?).
