snaprails,

It is commonly misused that way, unfortunately 🙁

snaprails,

“The settlement of the Czechoslovakian problem, which has now been achieved is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace. This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine. Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you: " … We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again” The Right Honorable Neville Chamberlain FRS.

snaprails,

That’s about £206,000. That wouldn’t buy you my 2 bedroom 1 bathroom mid-terrace house here. And by wouldn’t buy I mean you’d be around £100k short. Different fucking worlds.

snaprails,

What the fuck is he complaining about? He’s got exactly what he wanted.

snaprails,

Laptop? No way. Desktop for big spends, with a minimum of two monitors 🙂

snaprails,

I did say /minimum/ 😀

snaprails,

I’m assuming the cupboard next to the shower contains the khazi, with the throne facing the shower. You’d be able to sit, at a suitable straining angle but unless you’re short standing for a piss is going to be a problem. I guess the washing machine is in a communal area somewhere in the building.

snaprails,

I’m betting you don’t live in Turnham Green, or anywhere close 🙂

snaprails,

We could give them duvet jackets. A look down any local high street suggests suitable sizes are already available 🙂

snaprails,

Many people in that part of the world retain the ability, largely lost in the “west”, to squat with their feet flat on the floor. That reduces the strain on the knees/leg muscles while “straining “ 🙂

snaprails,

Nothing new if so, the UK has a long record of supplying arms to dodgy regimes which then comes back on UK nationals.

“I never thought that I would be
Fighting fascists in the Southern Sea
I saw one today and in his hand
Was a weapon that was made in Birmingham”

_Island of No Return, Billy Bragg, 1983

snaprails,

Did the Bun Ceremony even happen this year? I’ve seen a few “What’s On” listings showing it - probably cut’n’pasted from wherever you soursed that list - but as far as I can discover The Widow’s Son closed (again) in September 2023, its webste is a 404, and its ****book page hasn’t been updated since 2022.

snaprails,

With so many traditional events being associated with pubs this sort of thing is going to become increasingly a problem sadly as the property companies that now own them (thanks a bunch Thatcher) close them and redevelop them chasing a quick profit 🙁

In a happier vein, thanks for the pointer to that website 🙂

snaprails,

The UK government set a target for numbers of smart meters to be installed. It didn’t say that they needed to be working as smart meters. Nobody should be surprised by this.

snaprails,

Effectively already started to happen. Restrictions on use and higher tax and other charges for older cars designed to “encourage” people to buy newer ones, nearly all of which are in some way connected.

snaprails,

Telecoms engineer. The management. Forty-three years, two months and nineteen days. 😀

snaprails,

Settled Travellers, got to be. Or winter quarters.

snaprails,

They come in flocks here too. They’re hiding in that photo ready for the ambush when they’ll suddenly appear on the ridge, thousands of ‘em! Like Zulus! 😀

snaprails,

I gave up on Radio 2 some time in the 80s I think. Hardly ever listen to broadcast radio now. I used to have Radio 4 on in the van at work but half an hour listening to sundry lying, evasive politicians and other self-important cunts in the morning tends to put a downer on the rest of your day.

snaprails,

There’s the beginnings of a very long series of books, tv series, films, and merch here I’m sure. I wonder if it likes marmalade?
