How is this not happening in California???? Shame on Gavin Newsom for not prioritizing trains within our state. Imagine if we had a 90min connector between OAK/LA. How amazing would our lives be?!

Imagine the possibility of living in LA and commuting to Bay Area for work!

@brennansv Electric planes will be nice, sure, but boarding a train is such a better experience than the airport. My last trip to Europe reminded me just how much smoother it is to take a 3-hour train from city to city, even if the flight time is 1 hour. Factor in transport to airports, security, and boarding, and the travel time is about the same. And much less hassle overall.

    Screenshot Quote Posting

    By now you may have heard about the change eliminating the frustrating 16:9 cropping of posts in feeds (https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/110774797138668211).

    One of the biggest implications of this change is that you can now quote post simply by attaching a screenshot of the original post. You can be confident that the quote post image will properly display everywhere and not cut off on the left, right, top or bottom.

    Whatever you think about , this is something we can now do.

    @mastodonmigration I share your enthusiasm for the new cropping behavior, but I believe screenshooting alone is poor etiquette, especially when accounts with lots of followers do it, as it pulls attention away from the original post (and account). If you gotta screenshoot, at least link to the original post.

    @onpaperwings That archive is one of the oldest online things Monotype hasn’t tossed! But you’re right that you shouldn’t count on it. We’re exploring periodical digitization at the Archive, just not anytime soon. Meantime I would link to the Fonts.com PDFs but via archive.org.
