I have been #brewing for decades and have enjoyed #craftbeer for as long as I can remember. I briefly contemplated turning my home brewery, Quiet Scheme, into a commercial brewery and tap room then thought better of it. I am the admin of mastodon.beer.

Heading out for my regular visit to Saints Row. And to pick up our CSA share. The taproom is one of the delivery locations. Super convenient for me. :eilidh:

I worked some more in my brewery today. I've been getting it back together and in shape to brew now that our home improvement projects are finished.

Today I did some cleaning and put my brew stand back together.

I spent more time working on my brewery. I finally hung these shelves in the malt room/cellar. I've had them for years. I had to thin out my commemorative glasses but mostly tossing duplicates.

I moved my original kegetator all the way down into the subcellar. It is defrosting then will got set up again under these shelves.

View from the finished side of our subcellar into the unfinished side where my brewery is. My original kegerator is open next to my 2nd one. The second one doesn't have any taps, I use it only for cold storage.

On to pint two, another of my favorites, On Baker Street, a London style brown.

I am back at Saints Row after a week off. I was enjoying my first pint, of the Free State Pilsner, so much I didn't get a picture until it was almost gone.

On to pint two, an old favorite, Kikiriki, Saints Row's amber lager. Likely headed home after this one.

I haven't had a rye IPA in a while. I used to enjoy Denizen's Southside regularly when I worked nearby. I may need to find a six pack this weekend. After Tony's westie, now I kind of want one.

I am glad to be back at The Row after missing a week. My first pint was their new west coast IPA, Low Rider. Delicious and a great example of the style.

I am back at my usual haunt, Saints Row, after a couple of weeks off. With $dayjob stress and the kitchen remodel, I so needed this brief break from it all, at least a couple of pints worth.

Back at my social club, i.e. Saints Row. A very lively Wednesday full of former Key Masons from recently closed True Respite. They even took my regular parking spot. As a Saints Row Founders member, I must request a reserved spot when I see Tony, the owner next, to keep out the (totally welcome) riff raff (Key Masons).

I have arrived at BrewDog, my home for the next few days. Not only is a check in beer included, they had multiple options. I went with the Punk AF which is pretty good.

Also the hotel rooms are right off the production area.

I finally found some Guinness Zero. I wasn't expecting a nitro widget. It was quite good but in my opinion, not easily mistaken for the genuine article. Still, quite glad I bought it.

This is as you would expect as close to the target as you can get without actual ethanol. Mouthfeel, appearance, foam, finish, aroma--checks across the board. I wish I enjoyed hazy IPA's more.

I picked up a pack of these when I was running errands the other day. No sweetener but a brewer who knows hops. I only get a little of that vegetal flavor I find common in commercial hop waters and teas. I find a little citric acid and even less sweetener balances that out in less skilled hands like mine. The quality of hops I can get as a home brewer is of course so much poorer.

I would get this again but making my own is much cheaper. I'd like to get back to having it on tap.

True Respite Brewing Company to Close - The MoCo Show

    https://mocoshow.com/blog/true-respite-brewing-company-to-close/

My feelings are mixed. I hate to see any brewery close, especially one so close by. Honestly, I think they struggled in some ways with their identity from the very beginning that made getting to self sustaining harder. I found it harder and harder to be a supporter in the end.

I am looking forward to another midweek date nighte with @kamikat. Tomorrow we are going to the game night at Brookville Beer Farm. Old friends of ours are running the games.

I noticed a game night this week at Brookeville Beer Farm, one of my favorite local breweries. I mentioned it to @kamikat in passing and she was all in. Helps that the event is run by long time friends of ours who own Omnihedreal, a local Maryland tabletop gaming shop.

I am going to have a very social evening.

A friend and former boss will be joining me at the weekly happy hour at The Row. Arash is becoming a regular in his own right.

Good thing I get there early. I am meeting @kamikat for an impromptu date night at a meetup of local vegans. It is more about the venue, one of our favorite restaurants. We like the group too and realized it has been over a year since we've seen them.

End of an era for MD craft beer. Article mentioned them maintaining a presence here but unlikely to be the same.

On my way to see and stopped at for a flight. I tried:

    • Knotty Soda
    • Meadarita
    • Vanir
    • Friending Fenrir
    • Sweet Deception

@jcrabapple @stoutwardporterman When I first started making my own, it all started with mead. I've heard good things about Clear Skies and they are close by but haven't had a chance to stop by yet.
