Today - it’s been 24 years since we came to the US 😊
We did not plan to stay. Our plan was to spend just a few years in San Diego and move back to Japan. Not sure what happened, but we are still in this country, currently in the Philly area 🤔
In the meantime, I am enjoying this local IPA, very well balanced, highly recommended 😋

Lost my Samsung S21 Ultra Phone between the restroom & gate.
I panicked, but thought to use Google Find My Device via my laptop on free wifi. It worked!
Map showed the location of Goose Island Pub, opposite the restroom. Rang my phone & heard it in the Janitor's cart!!
Waited 10 minutes for the Janitor, then took my phone back.
Settled my nerves with 2 pints of #IPA at #GooseIsland #OHareAirport#Google#FindMyDevice
This is a good American IPA. Nothing special, but it is solid IPA and well balanced 😊
On a separate note, it takes me at least 40 minutes to get to this creek. As it is not stocked with trout anymore, it is open to fishing all year round, but its water quality seems to be declining 😞
But my son caught many Rock bass with a fly rod on a summer day 😉
Went out to Pherm Brewing in Gambrills, MD earlier today. They had a new Mango Habanero IPA out, and I wanted to try out the Pho Wheels food truck too.
I had a few small pours, and a full pour of the Caspian (mango habanero IPA that I wish had a bit more heat) and their Forbin (American IPA).
Pho Wheels was down right fantastic. I got their Banh Mirria (Banh Mi and Birria fusion), and their tacos with a fried egg on each.
@Zarf joined me on the latter half of the visit. Great times.
The article only talks about Apple but the proposed amendments of the IPA (sadly not the beer but the Investigatory Powers Act) would require any manufacturer WORLDWIDE to stop fixing a software bug which is exploited by UK law enforcement or secret services. Such an overreach is unprecedented.
They're so delusional to think they could enforce that worldwide.
Beers of today! A classic "IPA avant la lettre" with European hops, a very piney modern Dutch DDH West Coast IPA, and a sticky thick licorice, coconut and coffee pastry stout of a whopping 14,5% abv. Snoop Dogg would approve.
Michael Pascoe is a gem. Here's a piece that discusses Gina Rinehart's silly rant about how much arable land is going to be covered by solar panels in order to transition our energy systems to renewables. Taken from a "Research" paper published by the IPA. Here's a couple of quotes:
"Yet the rubbish circulates and finds supporters among those who want to believe it. It is reliably and uncritically regurgitated by denialists, turning up in comics like the Spectator and spread in the echo chambers of the deluded or self-interested."
I like that. "comics" like the Spectator.
And:
"The IPA is placing itself in the same space as those spreading lies about wind-farms killing whales without ever worrying about the impact of seismic blasting on them.
"For that matter, it is bemusing that the IPA is trying to whip up concern among farmers about wind-farms and solar panels when it didn’t care much about farmers not wanting fracking or coal mines on their land."
Not sure about the definition of tropical flavors in beer. Papaya, mango etc… but I never felt those types of flavors 🤔
I think I prefer citrusy flavor than tropical (not sure what it is). But citrusy could be also tropical. I am not good at describing beer tastes and flavors. But I think I should eat something oily or greasy when I drink this IPA 🤔
