George Monbiot tells us about the most damaging terrible companies and why they invest in politics. And why Rishi Sunak doesn't care actually care about any policies it's more about dividing the population to get people on his side.

I'd never understood why Castlevania was a "metroidvania" game. But I discovered that it only is from Symphony of the Night which is a few years into the series. #PS1 #Castlevania #RetroGaming

And finally . I do OK on this. I wonder if this 3d-ish one is the one I played on the many years ago.

Playing on the today. Hadn't played in many, many years. Got to city size quite quickly but traffic is now out of control and no space for rails.

I loved listening to the Alice Isn't Dead podcast. It's from one of the writers of Welcome to Nightvale.

https://www.nightvalepresents.com/aliceisntdead

I recently took my free Audible trial and decided to listen to the of the novel.

I've really enjoyed it. It's a reimagining of the story.

"Richest 1% account for more carbon emissions than poorest 66%"

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/20/richest-1-account-for-more-carbon-emissions-than-poorest-66-report-says

The numbers are staggering.

"It would take about 1,500 years for someone in the bottom 99% to produce as much carbon as the richest billionaires do in a year."

"A 60% tax on the incomes of the wealthiest 1% would raise $6.4tn a year and could cut emissions by 695m tonnes, which is more than the 2019 footprint of the UK"

Earthbound on the always seems to be praised. It's OK, but nothing special. It makes me laugh that when you defeat enemies, they don't die - they become "tame". It's a bit odd that half a dozen police attacked me. I found it funny that the map needs to be returned in 2001, which is very much not in the future.

A boy in a rocky cave. There is a passageway towards the left. There is a rope near to climb up a cliff. The text indicates I have no money and shows my HP and PP.

Some on the today. I did as bad as always. I always have trouble with the bubbles and getting out of the ocean. I never have the item I need, when I need it.

Tomorrow I'm going to really try. I'll draw a little map and keep track of the items and get this game finished.

Next was some . Only got to the second day.

Trying to play on the mini. It's surprisingly good even without a mouse. I can't figure out how to regroup the soldiers after i split them or how to use grenades.

after that. I am terrible at this. I had a very similar game Ghosts and Goblins for the back in the late 80's, which I was equally as bad at. It shows the map just before you start, there are bits of this game I will never see.

Failing, as always, on . I can't do beat 'em ups or shoot 'em ups.

Wooot!

The wife has gone out with the kids. I'm all alone!

I'm drinking supermarket brand energy drink, eating chilli cheese bites and listening to

Can it get better than this! Yes, I'm firing up the to do some .

Did a bit of . I never had an Amiga but I played this one on the school Acorn Archimedes. I didn't do well and ended in the loony bin regularly!

Screenshot from Mad Profesor Mariarti. He is in a pink, padded cell and in a straight jacket. The writing states "You are in the loony bin"

Playing some on my phone as my child is using the telly. I don't like on screen controls.

You may be old, but are you this old?

I believe this is the first version I used when I first got .

It's some "Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap" on the for me today. I had this, it must've been one of my favourites as a child.

You start off as a human, but almost immediately get turned into a lizard man. I remember there are several further transformations to come. A mouse man and a bird man spring to mind. They each let you access different areas in a Metroidvania style adventure.

So… I opened a few tabs in Firefox.

tinbee,

@SinclairSpeccy
Did people really do home budget/management and investing, with bar charts etc, on these computers?

I remember having this on the , I remember getting very annoyed with this game. I think it was one of the end of level baddies that was so frustrating, but I didn't get that far today 😆

Not much to the game, run around, shoot & avoid baddies, collect power ups and rescue the people.

Game screenshot. It's shown from above with a tiled floor, with 2 red "aliens" a green face and a blue player with black hair. There is a rectangular area on the right that is black with striped "warning" lines around it.

tinbee,

@jake4480
I'm amazed my control pad survived after being thrown at the floor so many times.

I tend to set several alarms for waking up. 8:40, 8:50, 9:00, 9:10, hoping that one of them will get me awake somewhen around when I want to be up.

Maybe the snooze button isn't as bad as you might think.

https://time.com/6329920/snooze-button-sleep-health/

tinbee,

@Mehrad
I might take a look. Fortunately I've gone from full-time dad to running a home business and back, so a lot of the time I can wake up whenever I'm ready. Saying that I have a small, loud alarm clock without a snooze option… it was born about 4 years ago.
