I find it hilarious when people try to have cool hacker style with terminal-esque text but then ruin it by making it based on Windows. "C:\Users\Hackerman>" is not as cool of a username as you think it is.

I think my Mac is becoming more and more “linux inspired” by the day. I’ve got yabai installed as my tiled window manager, alacritty as my terminal, dmenu-mac as my application launcher, and I also live in the terminal using tmux, neovim, and a bunch of custom scripts.
What’s next?

Seriously, most of the Fediverse had nothing to do with this and is a great place to be. Conversely, let's not pretend that this was a shocking possibility. We are not immune to trolls and idiots just because of the specific service we use.

Also, if you're posting to Mastodon, don't dilute yourself that your posts should be safe just because they're unlisted.

I can't do quote posts so a screenshot will have to do. But so much this. LNL could have banked so much money from VPN providers but at what cost? The audience understands this stuff.

We do happily advertise one VPN solution on the shows (which I won't name here) because they don't ask us to tell lies and it's just not the same thing at all really. It's just a really easy way to implement Wireguard.

I don't really blame non-tech YouTube people for not understanding this, but tech channels? 😬

    So, someone deleted the whole tree on a PC with the client still active, and of course it synchronized that back to the server by putting all the files in the trash…

    But they didn't tell me so I didn't know exactly what happened, and we started restoring from trash from two accounts at once… It didn't occur to me that this process wouldn't be atomic 🤷

    So now we have a whole set of files and whole folders twice.

    Anyone has a tool to clean up that mess or must I write one?

    @zerkman @mmu_man @nextcloud Yeah. If they run that script on a PC that's syncing then it should update and clean up the server.

    It is 2024 and I just put together a desktop PC with a DVD-ROM drive (not even a writer). But at least KDE now has a second "can we possibly test CD-drive support" machine in the ecosystem.

    @kdedude I have a read/write disk drive in my laptop if that would be helpful to you. I can use a secondary SSD for dev purposes if necessary.

    @bragefuglseth I feel like a good fix for this would be to have an optional toggle in the desktop environment settings to either force the system-wide theme in apps or use the app-provided theme instead and make the default be the latter. This could solve the issue on both sides while giving the user the ability to choose.

    For years, League of Legends was the most popular game on the Lutris website. For years, Valorant has been known to not run on Linux due to its abusive anticheat.
    Very soon, League of Legends will adopt the Valorant anticheat and will no longer be playable on Linux and there's not much we can do about it...
