Continuing my trend of living under a rock, I just found out there's a Nextcloud plugin that replicates gpodder.net for syncing podcast playback. It works with AntennaPod too (among others).
Last week was a blast. Several times a year Nextcloud brings all employees from all 23 countries together for a week of co-working and team building. Great to meet all the new team members. This was awesome. Including a very memorable party on the spree! #Nextcloud#OpenSource

In die eine Richtung kommen die Nachrichten praktisch instant an. In die andere dauert es fast 20 Sekunden. Es würde mich interessieren, von was das abhängt
Anhänge gehen nicht durch. Da kommt nur "XY hat eine Datei geteilt, die nicht mehr vorhanden ist"
Insgesamt ist das aber total unkompliziert und vielversprechend!
#Nextcloud: Hat jemand es jemand von Euch schon hinbekommen, die Federation von Talk zum Laufen zu kriegen?
Ich habe da Feature in beiden Instanzen aktiviert. Wenn ich eine neue Unterhaltung in der einen anlege, dann kann finde ich zwar meine Federation-ID vom anderen Server. Es gibt aber immer einen Fehler, wenn ich die dann hinzufüge. Die Fehlermeldung sagt nichts, nur dass ein Fehler aufgetreten ist.

Step 2: Shit, that Onlyoffice is WYSIWYG, and those are a pain in the arse, even if they are Free Software. They force me to use a mouse and don't separate semantic structure from look & feel.
Step 3: Okay, never mind, use whatever you like. Just send me a PDF export of your part once you are finished, and I will glue it together with my #LaTeX slides with pdftk.
I’m setting up a laptop for a non-techie relative, who lives in another city. I couldn’t find a remote admin solution that would work under Debian, at least not one that seemed reliable and trustworthy.
Here’s what I ended up doing:
I created a user for the relative on my #Nextcloud instance, and opened a chat session with them titled “Tech assistance”.
The chat session has a URL, which I bookmarked in the Firefox bookmark bar.

Well. I now have a local machine running Nextcloud, and I'm experimenting with an external storage folder and then syncing it with my desktop.
Configuration was a little finicky, and doesn't quite agree with the online documentation for Nextcloud. Might be something special to the YunoHost app. But in this case, the external folder needs to be owned by "nextcloud:nextcloud" (that is user & group).
Synchronization looks like it might take awhile. The whole folder, with all the project files, including EXR renders is 720 GB.
Ah yes, it predicts 10 hours, in fact. :welp:
(This is with both machines in my office! I shudder to think how long it would take across the net, especially with my rural ISP).
Perhaps I will find a way to trim that. I could probably make the renders a separate share from the source files, for example. #Nextcloud#LunaticsProject#YunoHost
My Google drive -> Nextcloud move has been going great so far. The desktop and mobile clients work very well, and the virtually unlimited storage space I have on my instance makes it awesome for syncing very large files (which I've been needing to do a lot lately)
For the folders where I needed 2 way sync in my mobile devices (neither mobile clients can do) I found that #syncthing works perfectly
So, I did transfer all my pictures to my #nextcloud instance. But could not remove them from #google photos, because it is still better for managing and sharing them, sadly. For now my #selfhosting option is just as a backup
