@SocraticEthics - you link a reasonably written article and you comment on it in a false and anti-Polish way. Who are you? Why do you want to put a wedge between Poles and Ukrainians. This is not the first time you did this.

Capitalism is evil and is killing us

tom_andraszek,
@tom_andraszek@mastodon.social avatar

@Radical_EgoCom - Ryan has a communist hammer and sickle symbol next to his name. For millions of people it is as foul as the nazi swastika.

Capitalism is just economic freedom: individuals are allowed to own things, as apposed to communism where individuals own nothing.

There is no 100% pure capitalism or communism in any country. In practice, communist means more control by one party or person.

As to environment: capitalist Sweden: 3.2t of CO2e per capita per year, communist China: 7.8t.

    Ukraine criticises Poland over "unfriendly and populist" grain ban

    Ukraine’s prime minister, Denys Shmyhal, has accused Warsaw of “unfriendly and populist” actions after Poland and four other eastern member states called on the European Union to extend their ban on Ukrainian grain imports.

    @eunews - “We agreed and still agree on transit, and there is no problem with transit,” said Morawiecki at a press conference yesterday. “Not only will Poland not contribute to destabilisation on global markets, but we are actually helping to take Ukrainian grain abroad.”

    tom_andraszek,
    @tom_andraszek@mastodon.social avatar

    @SocraticEthics - no, that's not how it works. Transit is ok, although train and road capacity is much smaller than by ship, so you physically cannot replace exports by ship with trains and trucks. The problem is the local markets. If Ukrainian food replaces locally produced food, then the local food is not harvested - it will rot in the fields. It happened before. The warehouses and shops will be full with cheaper, Ukrainian products. The warehouses and ports will be at capacity.

    @SocraticEthics -... for grain imports. Transit is ok. Farmers in Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia cannot compete with cheaper Ukrainian products. If they cannot sell above costs, they may go bankrupt.

    We want to connect all European capitals through high-speed railway lines. We are calling for the European Commission to make a proposal for a legally binding act to establish a European high-speed train network as quickly as possible. This means linking up the existing high-speed railway networks and building high-speed lines where these do not yet exist.

    The old was not built for cars. You could go by train from to from 1903 to 1964 (South Coast railway line, Queensland). Now you can't. But a motorway has been built, and widened, and widened again. In every old Australian town you will find the old walkable core: a pub, a square, a cafe, an ANZAC memorial or a street shaded by old trees, or a museum with a photo of an electric tram or trolley bus that used to go there...
