🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 I'm trying to actually research the entries before I select them for the "matchmaking" lottery for meet and greets, so I have that page open in one window and a google search for each creator on the other (especially since Vidcon puts sh-all info next to the names themselves) but the bleeping thing keeps timing out with NO WARNING, erasing everything so I have to start all over again?? What tf is the point of the "Saving" feature at the bottom when it DOESN'T SAVE??? How is this Vidcon's 13th annual show yet they STILL are so incompetent at designing a functional website??????????? (there are so many other problems with the website I could name, this is but one...and so many problems with the organization of the con as a whole)

honestly tho, the s / s who should be most worried about the apocalypse are "react" channels; they add so little to their videos* that it would be effortless to replace the "reactor" with an AI-generated robot.

*all the views come from people watching the viral tiktoks they're showing in the video, almost always without permission or even giving credit

Please note that I don't place "recap and review" creators in the same category as "video reactors." One actually takes time and effort to transform and add to the content they're talking about (examples: Kurtis Connor, Dreew Gooden, Chad Chad), the other makes stupid faces to the side while the only interesting parts of the videos are the stolen shorts they play on the other side of the screen (examples: sssniperwolf, xQc, Asmondgold, penguinz0, a thousand other millionaire content thieves)

Then there are the "Creators" who don't have full skits but who at least spend more time talking about the videos than just passively watching them, who are more on-the-fence, but I would usually argue lean more towards the former than the latter.

Trying to decide if I should spent today, one of my last child-free days before school gets out for the summer, working on:

  • finishing up going through my old clothing to take out stuff that I don't fit/would never wear to make room for the other stuff I recently thrifted
  • work on making some leggings out of the fabric and patterns I recently got on sale
  • keep editing "patriarchy friendly" versions of my old videos to put up on youtube where I crop the video way up to only my face
  • waste hours playing phone tags with banks and stock companies trying yet again to get the incompetent mfers to stop sending us checks made out to my dead mom that I can't do anything with
  • order my dad's medication refills because he never learned how to so much as look up a pharmacy's number and call them
  • try to make my website look less like crap even though every time I try to alter anything it just ends up looking worse
  • contact small creators and activists to ask if we can arrange an interview, even though i still have previously recorded videos I need to finish editing
  • finish editing other videos I recorded but didn't edit yet, like my diva cup review and putting makeup on my nonbinary amab 8 year old for attending his first drag show
  • cleaning house and making a home cooked meal so my husband doesn't feel as resentful that I "stay at home and play video games all day"
  • say "fuck it, I'm too stressed out to be productive today" and play video games, but do it on a livestream so I'm "wOrKiNg" (working) except I don't have enough followers to actually get paid for any of it so no, I'm still just playing games for my own pleasure
  • do none of it and just whine and argue with misogynists and purity politicians on social media, as the world continues to burn around me, and nothing us plebs do seems to have the slightest impact on the rich elite who continue to do whatever the fuck they want while all of us, even them, suffer

Weaponized incompetence is having to be on top of ordering my husband's damn mood stabilizer so he doesn't run out before they can be refilled.

(and now I'm about to order refills on my dad's prescriptions, but he has no idea how to check emails or text or do a web search or look up the phone n hunger for and make a phone call to a pharmacy or handle any level of technology more advanced than a typewriter, so he gets more leeway)

Not to start drama but genuine question for the "Biden is equally bad as Trump so I won't be voting for either" crowd, what is your plan of action to protect everyone who isn't a Rich Straight Cis White "Christian" Male™️ after Trump is put back into office by your lack of voting for the only other viable option, the rightwing-majority Supreme Court finishes abolishing women's bodily autonomy, voting rights and EPA regulations, and the loyalist goons Trump appoints to replace every sane person in government enact Project 2025 to finish establishing Christian Nationalist fascist rule?

😂😂 My almost 8 yo son, after running into the bathroom right as I was standing up after emptying my diva cup, looks down until the toilet before I've had a chance to flush: "oh my god! 😱"

Then he asked me a bunch of questions about my period, including "does it hurt" (for the first couple of days yes, like a sharp stomach ache and lower back pain, not like a cut) and "do I not really like being a girl" (I said I don't mind everything about being a girl, but we need scientists to invent a pill that stops us from having periods at all). Link then promised to become that scientist to invent that pill so "you don't have to worry about periods anymore" 😋 my sweet boy ❤️

People always going on about whether the outfits for female characters in fighting-focused games is practical, without mentioning THE HAIR. You're already in the realm of fantasy when they have long-ass hair that would get their head pulled off in their first real fight, who cares about the outfit??

(This reminds me, I need to put together some kind of video essay type thing about my thoughts as a feminist gamer on the Stellar Blade controversy...[I think the hub-bub is silly, this isn't a game you play for realism and having sexy female characters is fine sometimes, just not at our ONLY choice, or in a game that otherwise pretends to be realistic, ie some kind of CoD type thing]))

@madu oh noooo! I'm obsessed with the first Hades, especially making sure Zagreus and Thanatos ended up as a happy couple... 😅 The gameplay too of course is fantastic, I became a huge fan of the slow shield with Zeus pattern so it lightning bolts enemies as it goes (I forgot what everything is called 😅 )

@ProPublica One of the (numerous) things that bugged me while watching Fallout was the lack of plastic waste everywhere. Metal, sure, but where are all the styrofoam and single-use plastics that would never have biodegraded, even after a nuclear apocalypse?? I get that it's supposed to have happened in the 1950s, but surely there was already plenty of plastic waste floating around by then.

(the impeccably shiny and unscratched Brotherhood of Steel powersuits also bugs tf out of me, but that's something separate)
