Goddamnit. Nudism.tv, a website claiming to exist to provide content that normalizes nudism/nonsexual nudity, who approached me a while ago with an offer to pay me to make content for them (which I ultimately declined because I feel very weird about getting paid to film myself naked, not to mention lose rights over that video) just posted a video advertising some kind of festival aaand...

Halfway through the video, one of the participants is clearly flashing the nazi "OK" sign??

I don't know if the nudism.tv team is fully on board with nazis, or if they're just ignorant about what the symbol means, but wow. And the person flashing the sign being an attractive thin white (artificial) blonde woman really just takes the cake.

And people wonder why I continue to separate myself ever more from #nudism as a group, rather than simply advocating for "nonsexual nudity"...

pie-in-the-sky feature request for #fediverse / #mastodon : instead of having to censor a whole image or post, have specific categories we can check, like "nudity" "sexual" "eye contact" "spider" etc so that only people who have that filtered out won't see it (or will see the censorship blur) and those of us who aren't filtering it out won't have to deal with it being preemptively censored? (maybe make all the categories "opt in," like "I AM okay with seeing this"

i know it's gauche to ask for boosts on the fediverse, and normally I never do. but every time I search for #contentcreator on my own instance I get NOTHING, and I don't want to have to make a half dozen accounts on other instances to find other creators either. if I could just establish a network of fellow #creators (preferably #videoCreators, but #artists, #writers, #photographers etc are fine also) here on my home account, that would be wonderful.

oh my jfc. so right now I'm on hold while my #healthInsurance company calls the hospital where Aeden went for a two-hour #emergencyRoom visit in April--who already charged $1,454 total for the HOOSPITAL and another $669 for the DOCTOR THEMSELF, so far allegedly insurance paid $858 towards the HOSPITAL bill, leaving me to pay $604 (which I did) and $418 on the DOCTOR bill, leaving me to pay $250 (which I DID NOT, because I wanted to ask my insurance wtf how many more surprise bills can I get...

but after talking to the insurance company, they said the hospital bill is a mess, they put all the codes in wrong, they listed an ER visit as a non-ER visit which has a $500 copay instead of the $600 deductible which is what the hospital charged, and I also found out when I called the hospital that the "level 3" refers to the amount of pain that the patient (my five year old) was in when we went to the ER, and that THE MORE PAIN THE PATIENT IS IN, THE MORE MONEY THE HOSPITAL CHARGES FOR AN EMERGENCY ROOM VISIT!!!! 🙃 🙃 🙃

So like I said, I'm on hold while my ins tries to deal with the hospital for billing everything wrong, but I'm not hopeful it'll get resolved. Everyone says that the other side is the one that did it wrong, which is exactly what I went through when we first used this insurance to get my seven year old an urgent care visit that SHOULD have been $20 but they tried to charge me $400 for, saying that insurance had refused to pay it (while the ins said they never got the bill??) it took about four months to finally get resolved, over the course of me calling many times to many people, always receiving conflicting claims, until finally the ins and the clinic talked to each other and apparently worked it out.

As for the $250 bill, I'm only supposed to pay $50, but the doctor's office claims that our ins said that I owe $250, but the ins says that their explanation of benefits says that I should only owe $50...both sides, again, are just telling me "Well actually" while refusing to resolve it (hopefully we can do another three-way call after this one with the ER physician, who charges separately from the physical ER center)

Final note on the $1454 ER room charge, if the charge is listed as ER I'm only supposed to have a $100 copay with the deductible waived, and if it's a non-ER visit it's a $500 copay with waived deductible. Not only did the ER bill charge me a deductible, which is supposed to be waived, but they possibly decided to change the ER visit to a non-ER visit because it turned out to be an ear infection that Aeden was SCREAMING in pain about, after they did a ten minute exam during a two hour ER visit (most of which was just us waiting in an empty partition). So two conflicting codes exist:

• the hospital charges more money the more pain the patient is in, AND
• the hospital will change the ER room classification to non-ER if the screaming-in-pain patient turns out to not have a life-threatening illness or injury

So best case scenario, you go to the ER with a mild stomach ache and it turns out to be stage 4 cancer 🙃

Keep in mind this is all with employer-sponsored insurance that a third of my husband's paycheck goes into.

God. I downloaded #anki desktop again to try to learn the Korean alphabet (Hangul) and I forgot how absolutely awful and confusing the UI is to anyone who isn't a programmer. Every option is so obfuscated, and what few answers I can find online don't work, and often come with a very snooty answer, as if the asker is an idiot for not already figuring it out.

More observations: I really don't like the way Halle Bailey sings. Why does she cut off words randomly? She sounds like FKA Twigs, which would be fine for a different genre of music, but it's not right for Ariel at all 🤬

I agree with another review last night, that mentions how very boring and sparse Triton's "kingdom" is. For a tropical reef, why are the colors so dull?

I also agree that they pulled another Lion King miss with too realistic looking animals. Human speech coming out of an otherwise normal looking fish is just disquieting.

For a 2+ hour movie, how did they cut so many key scenes?! 🤬 Like dude, the revealing of the statue of Eric was key in demonstrating he's not vainglorious. It was also supposed to fall down much earlier so Ariel could start swooning over Eric BEFORE SHE MET HIM, not just casually fall down at the same time.

Ideally I'd like a
#lavalier / lapel mic with a line-in and a lightweight #voiceRecorder with expandable SD memory, or a decent wireless lapel mic that can connect to a usb-c android phone (or voice recorder). I have a Zoom already with four xlr ports, but it's really heavy and I don't generally need something THAT heavy duty for walking-around-outside vlogs. If there's a wireless mic that's good quality then awesome, but barring that at least a line-in mic that I can stick on my shirt collar (assuming I'm not filming something topless lmao) and have it pick up decent audio outside, or even during a convention. I'm hoping to keep everything under $200 (mic plus voice recorder) or under $100 for the mic, but I can go a little higher if it's really good quality.

I've tried a variety of <$30 lavalier mics already and they all kinda suck. I'm hoping if I can find recommendations from a real live human who's actually used it, not bought-out reviews from the manufacturers themselves, I'll have better results. Would be nice to have the new mic+recorder sooner than later, but by Vidcon in June at the absolute latest. Thanks in advance!

#youtube posted this ominous warning at the top of my studio: "Under our existing external links policy, violative URLs posted within the video itself or in the video's metadata (titles, descriptions, and tags) may result in the video being removed."

If you click "learn more," it takes you to their "external links policy," which is laughably vague, just like their in-general #communityGuidelines #violation page. You can read it yourself here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9054257?hl Note how they repeatedly say "this is not an exhaustive list," and there's no mention of nudity, only "pornography"--meaning it's up to that particular algorithm's programming bias what counts as "prawn" or not (to say nothing of the insanely blatant #misogynist and #sexist viewpoint within the #patriarchy that "female-looking nipples are 'nudity' but male nipples aren't" 🙃)

The absolutely wildest thing is, if youtube would just give me half the effin leeway that they do these many other accounts that post FULL BODY, FULLY UNCENSORED nudity, I wouldn't need to direct people anywhere else to see the "patriarchy-unapproved" version of my videos. Honestly, this is pretty crazy...I learned long ago not to post any kind of clickable link anywhere in a youtube description or comment (after getting #strikes for linking to my own website, and a twitter post of mine, and a tumblr post, and a link to a discord server intended to serve as a resource guide and community for intersex people...) but getting these threats that even just having the url to my site on my page can get a video banned.

If you're a #contentCreator or #influencer who only posts your content to Youtube, I highly encourage you to start packing now, and get your feet into some less-faschy alternative platforms--#Peertube is a great place to start (you can comment if you want me to try to direct you towards more specific resources). Because if you "keep all your eggs in one basket," you're going to end up with egg all over your face (and none left to survive off of) once capitalism kicks that basket out of your hands.

It really is wild to me how many punches to the face by arbitrary censorship the vast majority of mainstream social media users will take, yet refuse to even TRY using something like Mastodon because "iT's ToO cOnFuSiNg" 🤪 it's really not, they're just so habituated to the abuse that they've completely normalized letting soulless capitalists decide what (pro nazi, pro anti vaxxer, etc etc) content they're allowed to post.

Chrissakes I don't know why I even bother. Constantly hearing "I don't have the time/energy to use anything but the mainstream platforms I'm already on" makes me want to punch my computer monitor, as if constantly navigating the hurdles of arbitrary censorship doesn't take a hell of a lot of time and energy already. 🙄
