@skinnylatte Oh man, that post broke my heart. I so wanted to reach through the internet and grab that poor wife and tell her YES, there is a whole, real, fulfilling life out there for you, it will be hard to dump this albatross around your neck but once you’re away from him it will get SO MUCH BETTER, JUST DO IT, RUN FREE

As an immigrant I get annoyed when people say American food is bad coz it’s only burgers.

First, immigrants exist and our Americanized foods are glorious (I’m aware burgers also came from immigrants, but that’s not what those people think)

Second, all burgers are glorious (incl vegan burgers and fast food burgers)

I was supposed to go bike camping but Cookie’s pancreas is acting up again. Old dog problems. I’d rather stay in and cuddle with her (in between cleaning up)

@skinnylatte @katieonviolin I hear you. I had to have my first dog put to sleep at 14 years old over the phone (with a vet who was a longtime, trusted friend, at least) when she suddenly crashed while we were across the country. It's so hard to leave them at any age, but those very last years are incredibly tough.

I've seen a larger number of exasperated people bitching about GIMP recently, to which I offer this advice:

Photopea is truly excellent and will likely cause you much less frustration and hassle.

It's browser-based, but is installable as a PWA, and can do anything I've ever found myself needing to do in GIMP.

I was a GIMP user since the very first release, even using it on projects I did for Adobe*, but haven't used it in 3 years now after finding Photopea.

*: I relished leaving the default "created in GIMP" metadata on all the assets I delivered.

PSA: Now that the dum-dums are going around spreading
again, I thought I'd check on whether I could get a booster (like most people, I've never had one as an adult). My doctor sent me for a blood test to see if I still had antibodies. Nope! So I'm going to get boosted. I'm 49 and got all the regular American public school kid vaccines, and definitely got MMR. Anyway might be worth getting your antibodies checked if you're frequently around infants or immunocompromised people.

The current mayor of San Francisco is driven 1 mile downhill in a 3-ton, 7-passenger, $100,000+ SUV during a roadway safety crisis and climate crisis.

We need a mayor who leads by walking, biking, or taking public transit.
