#ios 17.4 is out today. Some decent updates here, please see the article for a bit more. Keys one’s for me: Stolen Device Protection changes and New iMessage protocol.

As always with #Apple, your #bluetooth will be enabled upon reboot. Just a setting that Apple likes to mess with w/o your knowledge. On those devices that do not need #bt, I encourage you to disable it in the settings menu.

I know I am like a week late, but I wanted to wait until I knew my candidate was going to win. (Live in a mail-in state, totally fine with this)

The reason this is great 1)It was a school board election 2)There was “Mom’s 4 Liberty” money supplied to the opposition. 3) None of the M4L candidates won.

This, again was for the F’ing school board! These people are crazy. I saw YouTube ads, my kids had ads on mobile games against the non-M4L candidates. Glad they did not triumph.

Anyone else having issues with the native #ios apps for #mastodon not loading their “feed”? I am being told I am “offline” since I updated the app yesterday.

However, “posts”, “hashtags” and the right column seem to be functioning just fine, as well as the ability post, boost or favorite items.

#ClearviewAI is a somewhat scary product/company. I would recommend a book (I have only just started, so my recommendation is not complete) “Your Face Belongs To Us” by Kashmir Hill (@kashhill). I am only about 25 pages into it but I am hooked. She is doing a great job with physical identification markers through time. Seeing this article brings up the fact that we should all be aware of this Flordian company.

I think I just experienced my first Medicare #vishing attempt?

The woman asked about which card I have in my possession (red, white or blue). Once I mentioned I was not on Medicare she immediately hung up.

No apology,
Never asked my name to confirm she had the right person.

Anyone aware of (or experienced similar) Medicare vishing scams? I am sure there are, just my first experience with one.

I realize using a #kindle is, by itself, being tracked. But it really is the only way I read fiction books (I still like real books for technical/education topics)

Airplane mode is on my kindle 99% of the time. Only disabled to grab new books purchased.

With that said, I got this email from Amazon. I turned my Wifi on once, last week, to download a new book.

Be aware, #data is being captured even when you are not looking or really aware. First time I saw this.

My phone created a memory titled after the state in which we visited.

How does #Apple create these memories, with accurate location data if the host phone does not share its location?
Was it able to create that album of 28 photos, 6 of which were from my wife, from my wife's location data in the photo?

I try my very best to be #privacy and #security focused. The album itself was not shocking, the accurate location was.
