@HomerAtTheBat search for the community in the Magazines area of kbin and it will return you results from kbin and other instances (lemmy.world, sh.itjust.works, etc.) magazines is what kbin calls communities.
Yes, you can. Click on the topmost search symbol (don't use the search in the Magazine screen) but the one at the top on the right side (global search), then enter the name of the Lemmy community in the Fediverse format. For example @Linux and hit enter.
The Community will display and will be automatically added to kbin.social's list of magazines.
Go to the magazine screen, you'll see that Linux@beehaw.org is listed. Click the subscribe button and you're subscribed!
I learned some interesting details about this a while ago from this video from Adam Ragusea on copper cookware, https://youtu.be/vZfvsaKrGss
From what I understand, pretty much the difference you'll notice with a copper mug is that it makes the Moscow Mule feel colder because copper conducts heat away from your hand faster than most other materials. A lining might slow down that conduction. OTOH better insulation will keep the drink cold longer.
I don't know about crucial, and I'm not sure if it exists already and I just can't find it, but I'd love to be able to preview a comment or post before submitting it.
Something similar to the multireddit function that reddit has where you can use a + sign in the URL to consolidate multiple subreddits in one page? I don't know how easy this would be but if you could do that across multiple instances you could have askkbin+asklemmy@lemmy.ml+asklemmy@lemmy.world (etc) and view all the different questions at once.
How do I send a private message to another fediverse user from kbin? I thought maybe if I viewed their profile I'd have the option, but nothing obvious stood out.
Can I block/unsub certain magainzes from other fedis? For example I am getting a lot of .de content, and I can't read the language, and would rather not see it.
Click on the community that you want to hide and on its sidebar you should see a 🚫 symbol, right next to the "Subscribe" button. Once you turn it to red, you will stop seeing content from that community in m/all
As a Kbin user, whenever I click on a lemmy link it takes me to their website which would then not allow me to post or subscribe to the magazine/community/whatever. Is there a way to click on other instances' links and STAY in kbin so that I can interact with them?
I have a similar problem in Jerboa (the Android Lemmy app I use), the best workaround that I've found is to search for the community manually through my app/instance. AFAIK it should also be possible to manually append the community you want to the end of the URL of the kbin instance you use though I don't personally know how that's formatted over on your side of the fediverse!
Is there a way to collapse a comment in a thread's comment section?
I don't know if there's something I'm missing or not, but it seems like I can't collapse a comment in the comment section of a post. This is kind of a big issue for me as I like to collapse comments I've read in order to keep track of comments, especially as I work my way down a comment tree.
@xc2215x the irony that some the improvements made to modernize the version of PHP it runs on were contributed by Facebook and the fact that it's Twig template files can be modified by anyone familiar with HTML and CSS. You don't need to know PHP to contribute improvements.
Currently using a webapp from the kbin.social website saved to my Home Screen on iOS. It works pretty great actually, but it’s got some quirks. Mainly, it’s not really tuned for the phone screen, not well enough at least. It also lacks niceties like easily previewing image and video posts, as well as saving them. Coming from Apollo, saving media to my phone in a specific folder is sorely missed.
It’s from a Reddit sub that had a “rule” to post something before you left. People just got in the habit of titling every post “rule X” or “X rule” because they didn’t want to come up with an actual title.
@SpacemanSpiff Oh the PWA works well on Android, but the kbin mobile experience itself is just not it for me. I need an app that works on API and is good looking, because dear god kbin is well... not the best as a PWA for mobile.
