carpingdiem, The rose breasted grosbeaks and the summer tanager seem to have departed, and the Baltimore orioles never showed up, so it's just the usual feeder birds today. However, I am expecting the first brood of bluebirds to fledge any day now. #birds #birding #birdsofmastodon #birdphotography #nature #HoosierMast
This red headed woodpecker comes to the feeder every day now. Red heads are uncommon, so it's good to see it.
On the left is a male hairy woodpecker on the feeder and on the right a fledgling house finch has landed. Normally, the larger hairy woodpecker does not share the feeder with other birds, but it tolerated the fledgling, probably because he knew it was clueless.
This is a female American goldfinch in summer feathers. It lacks the neon yellow feathers and black cap of the males.
