What like Stephen Blank are unwilling to acknowledge yet is that the reason that it doesn't make any sense to build new fossil fuel infrastructure is because we're rapidly transitioning away from fossil fuels.

It's also quite possible that they are being paid in order to try to help slow down the transition.

Now, I don't want to just talk about the fossil fools that are working to block climate action now that we finally have a POTUS that has taken grand steps towards transitioning our country away from fossil fuels finally.

This first large-scale offshore wind project is a BIG deal and not just because those turbines are HUGE. Most of our population lives near the coasts and so offshore wind can help us decarbonize our grid relatively quickly.

I was so glad to hear about my old friends, the Ute tribe is transitioning away from their historic source of income, fossil fuels, into solar energy farming.

Joe Biden putting a native American in his cabinet doesn't get enough respect from the left side of the aisle imo. Anyways, I'm so happy that we're trying to help make it a just transition.

The Sun Bear Project is 8 miles long!

Wind & solar "together make up the fastest-growing source of electricity in history."

They were <1% of global electricity in 2004 but skyrocketed to 15% in 2023. We've added 800 TWh (2.8%) of global electricity via wind & solar renewable energy and the pace is picking up! Their additions finally exceed global electricity growth, even without nuclear, EE & other RE growth so that's the really big deal.
@mackaj

Rooftop solar prices in USA fell 3.5% in 2023 too!

Rooftop solar prices in USA fell 3.5% in 2023, are back to pre-pandemic level, and nearing record low of 2021. Solar plus storage is up, with Sunrun saying 48% of its projects are both. Storage prices were down 6.4%

Sunrun and Lowe's teaming up to provide building owners with easier access to DIY options to add solar and batteries is going to really help towards picking up the pace of decarbonization imo. @CommercialSolarGuy

@GreenFire @CommercialSolarGuy I’ll note however that as a homeowner considering solar the process of finding a reputable installer is tricky. I get folks going door to door with a pushy sales pitch somewhat often and every neighbor with solar used a different company. And with the current state of online searches researching to try to get a reliable quote is eh difficult. It’s not easy to estimate the cost or to understand what is required (for my electrical system/wall space etc)

@GreenFire @CommercialSolarGuy and many solar companies seem more like financial firms than actual tech firms - pushing leases and complex financing plans over a straightforward cost estimate
