The Discord bridge to/from Matrix is operative! How does it work though?
Whenever you'll write a message on Discord the same message will be copy-pasted into Matrix in the corresponding room!
And what about the message written on Matrix side? The same thing will happen in this case, with Bridget (the bridge-bot, duh!) impersonating the Matrix user and writing the message on Discord.
@thegamerstavern@KennyPark@EighthLayer Ah, I just checked it looks like our server doesn’t support “sliding sync” (yet) which Element X uses. You’d be better off just using the standard Element app for now :)
@thegamerstavern you know, that's really cool. I don't have the reach or energy for maintaining discord for the three people that would like to join it, and I am not a fan of discord. That being a possibility is pretty cool, but I might just look into setting up something on Matrix to being with.
@Imperor I get that, maintaining a Discord server could be really time consuming, and that's why the tavern has a wonderful staff that helps moderating all the channel's media, Owncast, Lemmy, Matrix, Discord, etc.
We chose to bridge Discord and Matrix as the majority of the community is located on Discord but we get that not everyone likes Discord (me first, just sayin' )
I do try and go for FOSS options, but adaptation is an issue. I know of only one person from my subscribers and followers who came over from the mainstream stuff to engage on the foss-end of things.
Still a rift, but I'm hoping for some changing winds down the road.
