I've a few taxis with this (or similar) wraps in of late. “Keep using plastic or WE ALL DIE.“

Brought to you by "small and medium size businesses”. Yeah, sure.

Pretty proud of going over 300 kms last week. Had to sneak one last ride after dinner last night to bump it over and of course it rained again 🙄 happy rolling #ottawa #ottbike #biketooter

Hey and tomorrow at 10;30 AM there’s a cargo bike show and tell behind the Hopewell Avenue Public School off of Bank Street close by the Mayfair theater. If your cargo bike curious, wanna get rid of one of your cars or cars all together, it’s a prime chance to test ride a bike. There are zero shops in like Curbside or London Bike Cafe that have a range of models for you to test before you buy

Brought my bike into Fosters on Bank street for service this morning and discovered that Fosters is gone.

Quick Cranks (two blocks away at Cooper) took it over and closed the Bank location.

According to a search, Fosters opened at 9. Quick Cranks opens at 10, and I was there at 9:45. Did they open the door when I buzzed? Nope.

So, where in do I get my bike serviced? I live in Lowertown, so I’d like to be close if possible.

Lesson: don't trust search engine summaries. I know this.🤦🏻

@Mr_GHARice Historically, that's what I've been able to do at Fosters for years (just never at beginning of season, as that's not fair to them). Easily 3/4 of the time, they’d do the work right on the spot. Kinda sucks that I have to find a new place. I don't like new things very much.

@WTL
Here you have to wait at least 2 weeks in the season up to 2 Months. With 3 kids using their bike riding to school I meanwhile do everything myself and equipped like bike shop. 😉

Quite a downpour going now! Glad to get the deluge on the garden and pond.

I think I've settled most of the pond leaks (mostly stream bed adjustments). Hate using metered city water in the process.

I’m really proud of my restraint commenting on Reddit but my fucking god these “I’m a cyclist and all you other cyclists are breaking the law and therefore all the mad drivers are justified in wanting to kill us” posts are going to be the end of me. Goddamn these in particular make me so ragey. Yes, fine, be kind to people also not driving but I do not care what you do to make yourself safer. Period. Fuck the rules made for people driving

Ah nice to see the rest of the week is much more pleasant. It's very hot and muggy now, so I'll enjoy the change.

I wonder if there will be a something stormy come through in the change over this evening or overnight?

ottaross,
@ottaross@mastodon.social avatar

Overnight temperatures sink pretty slowly from 30C to 21C for morning, so that doesn't seem like any dramatic front coming through.

Will be a bit of an uncomfortable night if you don't have AC.

@ottaross a thunderstorm and only 40% chance of showers? Or perhaps, 40% chance of showers and 100% chance of torrents?

My fav new weekend activity is getting the 1 1/2 hr bus ride to CHEO on a Sunday only to have to wait for hours and hours, esp on nice outside Sundays. It’s great, totally fine, love this so much

I like how Smyth Rd, serving the only kids hospital in the city is served by one bus route… let’s see if we can get home before 3;30 🙃

Nothing radicalized me more than living without a car. I firmly believe it’s a literal and metaphorical vehicle for the future. It opens you up to your community. It can make you feel joy when there are many days right now where it’s conflicting to feel joy.

I think more people should become radicalized. Life is a lot different, a lot better, change is scary and every fucking minute of it is worth it

Based on my observations here in the Market, there are six types of people out in the pouring rain:

  1. Brought an umbrella and/or raincoat.

  2. Soaked to the bone, fumingly cranky at the world.

  3. Gleefully walking in the rain.

  4. Attempting to outrun rain and failing.

  5. Resigned that they are already soaked to very core of their sullen bones.

  6. Didn't bring a raincoat or umbrella, and want to you believe they did this totally on purpose. Totally.

[Edit: I can count, honest 🤣]

We had to drive downtown just after 4pm yesterday. What an absolute s**t show. I don’t know how anyone in can make fun of drivers elsewhere. And the traffic, holy crap the traffic. Our roads are a shambles. I think we’re a joke as a nation’s capital. That goes for our roads and our public transit.
