rml,

@rml One thing thats fairly obvious from Reuters coverage as quoted here, is that is still the bottleneck of sold to rich govs.
i mean Israel seem tp have failed to find actionable intelligence from all the intelligence it was able to collect with bigtech,

  1. At least for now the aggressor is more innovative than them
rml,

@brokenix interesting take, it would be amazing if ML turns out to shoot them in the foot.

But Israeli hackers are really some of the best in the world, they leave the US in the dust. Its the conscription mostly, I believe. None of the geeks want to be out on patrol, so they work in infosec for the IDF, where they have to exercise military discipline working day and night, but also have camaraderie and are in one place sharing, so they wind up with 2 years of non stop programming very young, and with good teachers.

Its similar here in Vietnam, programmers get an accelerated 2 year boost during their conscription, and so Vietnam is full of great systems programmers.

@rml Somewhere near Bangalore , luckily a less disturbed and polar politically and I am not socially significant enough to be not safe , it has its own price though...
i had no problem sharing particular, had the secure communication on internet been a norm .
you are from?

rml,

@brokenix i live Hanoi, so you're not too far! Welcome to come visit, i have a guest bedroom if you ever feel like a trip.

I've heard Bangalore is pretty decent, interesting contemporary history too. At least for the north.

Yeah i need to reset up my wireguard, I borked my server a few weeks ago and got lazy. But maybe I can connect to tailscale using wireguard? Idk what tailscale does too much tbh

rml,

@brokenix I mean decent for the north, not that the north doesn't have interesting history lol. but I have a whole crew of tamil friends and we're in a group chat and they are always clowning on northerners

@rml Oh cool , which app?. This country has a colourful and very misunderstood culture . I myself am naive in that regard. I do my best to remain above it v but even that requires identifying these divides and biases ... mammoth task. Usually metropolitans kept the working isolated from it, but even to stay there , some wisdom is required .

Hanoi is famous, thanks to the tower of hanoi puzzle.any places are nice to visit , but living nearly anywhere and actively standing by your beliefs , is a different ballgame

CyborgMedusa,

@rml get fucking lost. wtf is wrong with you. your backwards "philosophy" not only cheers on the slaughter of jews (which you think you can brush away as a jew) but also the elimination of any element that is contrary to islamist ideology.
"islamism is leftist acshually" is what you get when anti-imperialist fucktwats bathe in pan-arabism

@rml Both Hamas and Likud are right wing theocratic terrorist anti democratic parties

rml,

@rticks

was democratically elected and then the PA stopped doing elections because of it lol.

is not a democracy; only ~50% of the population has any rights or representation. its a white supremacist ethnostate.

Likud is center-right on the Israeli political spectrum. Bibi'll likely be succeeded by Naftali Bennet of the Jewish Home party, which is the proper right wing on the spectrum. The far right is far more sinister, composed of Jewish Home's extreme wing Tkuma, and the Kahanist parties Otzma Yehudit, and Noam, all of which are represented in the government. Netanyahu is a liberal, comparatively, get real.

And the left isn't too much better. The darling of Israeli liberalism, Yitzakh , was a literal ethnic cleanser who planned and executed Operations Danny, Yoav and Horev in 1948. Shulamith Aloni is the only one that comes to mind that really wanted to do whats right and admitted how wrong and terrible 1948 was. But even Maki and Hadash, Israel's marginal far left parties, support apartheid. The country is pretty much united on the belief that apartheid should continue. The liberals just don't like the bad optics of Netanyahu.

@rticks@mastodon.social avatar

@rml Yes. And that make the Palestiana responsible for electing terrorists nust like Israel is responsible for electing the terrorist Likud.

@rticks @rml Being an orthodox Muslim myself, I can say this 100% confidence, Hamas's actions and beliefs are light years distant from Islaam.

Hamas, al Qaeda, ISIS and the likes have their roots in the thoughts and ideologies of Syed Qutb. Qutb was a 20th century Egyptian thinker, who tried to package Marxism and Leninism using Islaamic garb. He did succeed a lot.

Funny thing is that his ideas not just influence violence extremists but even liberal-progressive Muslims as well.

And both extremes hate us - orthodox Muslims, and we hate both the extremes.

rml,

@shakil_tcs @rticks

Hamas cannot be compared to al-Qeda, they do follow Wahhab and they arent even Salafi; and its wrong to assume that Qutb is their essential thinker. theyhavent even been affiliated with the muslim brotherhood since the 80s. Qutb is massively influential, across contemporary Islam, and is unavoidable in many senses. but Hamas does not advocate the juridifcation of Sharia as Qutb did, or the idea that there is mortal knowledge that exceeds tafsir.

One of Sheik Yassin's principal influences was Mustafa al-Siba'i, the founder of the Syrian MB, who is actually a very interesting figure, and Hamas's organizational structure, from their da'wa to their militant brigades, implements Sibai's ideas to the T. they are something very unique in that regard, and its what allows them to exist as a broad popular social force that is deeper than any centralized command structure.

I've been going there for years, and do hack labs in a Hamas-oriented cultural center. women participate along with men, with no clear separation. I cook with them and I even stay in the bunk house of the cultural center, which is used to provide housing to those who have lost theirs. overall, my impression of Hamas, is that everybody who believes in resistance, which is nearly everyone who is muslim and isn't rich or had family die with Fatah, considers themselves Hamas supporters. and I know Hamas feminists, and women play a major role in all levels of Hamas orgs.

I think your impression of them is mostly based on stereotypes, to be honest. they are pretty diverse social movement.
