I was just informed by one of the admins that I have 14 days to leave functional.cafe after I called a troll doing genocide apologia in my comments a zionist ape, where should I go? What servers don't bow to the complaints of ?

Functional.cafe are claiming I'm simply a multiple offender of their rules, which i will admit is true ever since they changed their rules, but I would like for it to be clear. They changed their rules in October specifically to accommodate Zionists complaining about my posts, the very day a tagged post of mine blew up and became among the most shared BDS posts on the activity pub network. I initially agreed to CW political posts, but as 's in has accelerated, killing all but one of my students in Gaza along with most of their families, I've concluded that hiding this behind content warnings is itself bowing to mild repression for the sake of satisfying the demands of the most extreme oppression: genocide.

I've seen plenty of pro-genocide posts in the local server feed. I dont think they are being asked to leave or even getting their posts censored, as mine increasingly have been (even removing posts with many likes from months ago, apparently on demand).

I'm sad I'll be losing all my past posts, especially those about and that I occasionally rediscover. Where can I go that won't turn similarly sour? My time with the may be up tbh. After being blocked and soft-blocked by nearly everyone I was buddies with in the community (for years!) for being an anti-genocide Jew, and now this, its quite clear that even spaces that act like they stand for universal liberties above all are actually willing supporters of the most oppressive regimes and ideologies on the planet. At least insofar as they are in origin and character.

I think this might actually be the first time in my life I've been more horrified by some of the left than the right. The Ukraine war came close-ish, with some factions of the left siding with Russia due to distrust of the US (which, fair enough), and then tankies apparently being confused as to whether Russia is still socialist or not. But all of that was balanced out by the right trying to undermine Ukraine funding in favor of the most stupid shit ever.

But this week a lot of leftists who support Palestine somehow stumbled past the point and went straight for glorifying one of the most horrific massacres in recent history, openly supporting Hamas, and even straight up calling for the elimination of Israel. I always thought the right had a monopoly on overt racism and unjust violence, but apparently if you substitute in words like "decolonization" you can get some of the left to go full Nazi too.

@malwaretech Are you really more afraid of a small guerrilla group which is nothing more than controlled opposition than the organised armed forces of a state which is backed by the US and the West as a whole? Whose leadership, both in speech and action, have made clear that they are in favour of committing genocide of Palestinians?

@rticks @rml Being an orthodox Muslim myself, I can say this 100% confidence, Hamas's actions and beliefs are light years distant from Islaam.

Hamas, al Qaeda, ISIS and the likes have their roots in the thoughts and ideologies of Syed Qutb. Qutb was a 20th century Egyptian thinker, who tried to package Marxism and Leninism using Islaamic garb. He did succeed a lot.

Funny thing is that his ideas not just influence violence extremists but even liberal-progressive Muslims as well.

And both extremes hate us - orthodox Muslims, and we hate both the extremes.

Around 70% of the previously forested Amazonian land has been converted to pastures. Much of the remaining 30% converted to croplands, mostly to grow feed for cows, buffaloes, chickens, pigs, sheep, and other animals who are farmed and killed by humans all over the world.

Plantbased diets for dogs, cats and humans would free up vast amounts of land, allowing rewilding and biodiversity recovery.

well, the alternative to masking is catching covid 2-3 times a year, a disease which gives you cardiovascular damage, strokes, brain damage, nerve damage, diabetes, chronic fatigue, lung damage, and dementia. among many other things. and the risk of all of those goes up geometrically the more times you get infected

so, idk man, should we continue to wear masks for the foreseeable future? yes, because i think wearing a mask when out and about is a lot less harmful than any let alone all of those

Animals and plants are created for the needs of humans.
If it was evil to kill them for food, then the Most Wise Creator would not have allowed us to do so.

I have not come across this. I am not a scholar to interpret it.
Mercy upon humans does include killing animals for food sometimes. We are for responsible use of resources and not torturing live animals or killing for fun.

@rml @mjdxp I would just like to interject for a moment. What you are referring to as GNU/Hurd is in fact GNU Hurd or simply Hurd. You see Hurd is part of GNU project and not from an external source like Linux. Thus like all GNU projects we call it "GNU space Hurd".

It’s not about ‘turning your kids gay’ but about acceptance of everyone no matter who they are or how they feel!

India has banned Element, the most widely used Matrix client. I know it's just a client, but to be safe it's wiser to stay away from matrix for a while. So please help us in this regard.

IMPORTANT: if you use Matrix, there's currently a fake Space being created, with a bunch of rooms, using my logo and name without permission.

I asked them to stop, they removed my message and did everything they could to pose as the official Matrix space for the channel. I reported them to Matrix for impersonation, but I don't know if they'll do anything about it.

The impersonator created a space called -linux-experiment:matrix.org, the official one is -linux-experiment:mozilla.org.
