Was thinking about today and that reminded me of the excellent guest role Padma Lakshmi had on Enterprise which made me want to ask y'all: Who's been your favorite guest star/role across the franchise?

tlacamazatl,
@tlacamazatl@wandering.shop avatar

@nocontexttrek Richard Riehle. TNG, VOY, and ENT.

Shout-out to @GreatestTrek who just reviewed that episode, including a fun little story involving @JeriLRyan

@nocontexttrek Iggy Pop as a Vorta in DS9.

joesteel,
@joesteel@duck.haus avatar

@nocontexttrek As far as effectiveness of a big name in a guest star role, I'd say Michael McKean, but Iggy Pop was just so bizarre I really do love it.

Moltz,
@Moltz@mastodon.social avatar

@joesteel @nocontexttrek You're thinking of Joe Piscopo.

joesteel,
@joesteel@duck.haus avatar

@Moltz @nocontexttrek John, that's outrageous

@nocontexttrek Mick Fleetwood :) 🐟 ... Or Professor Stephen Hawking - who was the only person to ever play himself.

Bebe Neuwirth as the Malcorian scientist that wants to "make love with an alien," to which Riker is only too happy to oblige. I think it was the nuttiest TNG episode, and her cameo is truly funny.

ITradedMyEyes,

@nocontexttrek Somebody already said The Rock, so I'm going Paul "The Big Show" Wight. He chewed some serious scenery as an Orion slave trader and took a "low blow."

Second answer is Mae Jemison: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Mae_Jemison_(actress)

AMS,

@nocontexttrek Mae Jemison of course.

@nocontexttrek Tom Morello.

nocontexttrek,
@nocontexttrek@mastodon.social avatar

@gideonstar hell yes

Rufus_Vogel,

@nocontexttrek I might be the only one to say this, but my favorite guest star was Kara Zediker as T'Pau in the Star Trek Enterprise episodes "Awakening" and "Kir'Shara."

@nocontexttrek Melvin Belli!

@nocontexttrek Melvin Belli because I am also a big Rolling Stones and he was in Gimme Shelter, “don't make me into a proctologist…”

@nocontexttrek Iggy Pop’s deadpan Vorta 100%

A fun game my partner loves is any time we’re watching a tv show or movie and i see someone who was on an episode of Star Trek, i whisper to her “they were on Star Trek”

Cassandra,
@Cassandra@autistics.life avatar

@jw

That does sound like a fun game.

I play a variant where when I'm watching a TV show or movie I point out Canadians.

(Like SNW's Captain Batel.)

jyrgenn,
@jyrgenn@mas.to avatar

@Cassandra @jw Watching tv with German overdub I like to point out to my wife "That is the voice of George Clooney(, Ellen Pompeo, ... whoever)!" whenever I recognise one. Drives her nuts some times as she doesn't have the ear for it.

jann,
@jann@twit.social avatar

@nocontexttrek That guy with the low voice who played Jake Sisko in the future on . For the life of me I can't remember his name! BUT he was amazing!

nickgb,
@nickgb@wargamers.social avatar

@jann @nocontexttrek Tony Todd is who you are thinking of. Also played Worf's brother Kurn in several episodes, and.a Hirogen on voyager.

He was fantastic as old Jake in The Visitor.

great one. Do you know the backstory? If not, it's hilarious. Apparently he (literally) rolled up to the paramount lot, and wasn't recognised at first.

    @nocontexttrek Wow, that's a hard one, especially since Iggy Pop has been mentioned multiple times already. Regarding , I'm torn between Joan Collins and Ted Cassidy (Addams Family). For , the wonderful Bebe Neuwirth has been named here too, so I'll propose Famke Janssen. And Lori Petty in .

    But my favourite has to be from a movie - not the best of the films, mind you - but what a fabulously bizarre, poetic and funny performance by the great in VI!
