International trains )&^#$%^&(!!
(or should we say: room for improvement)

Daughter travels to Bilbao for surfing holiday. Friend takes plane, daughter takes train.
@Eurostar to Paris: Surfboard, no problem.
@TGVINOUI Paris-Biarritz: Surfboard?! Illegal! That'll be €150 fine.

Also TGVINOUI: Bicycle? Yeah, we have a separate section for that. Ticket is €10.
Airline: Surfboard? Sure, that'll be €50.

Free advice for TGV-INOUI: On the TGV Paris-Biarritz, create a separate section for 20-50 surfboards (they take very little space when properly organized) and charge €10 for those too. People have been known to surf in the Biarritz region more often...

Free advice for Europe's railway companies in general:

Get Your International Act Together!!

(managed to avoid Trumpian all-caps there, but came close)

Free advice for the @EU_Commission, the @EUCouncil, and the 27 member states:

Force your railway companies to finally
Get Their International Act Together!!

And please do it now.

Just noted that at least one of the Dutch parties has a plea for European trains in its campaign for the European Parliament elections (on 6 June here). It's a start.
