Phantom_Engineer, in Peacocks Aren't Vain
@Phantom_Engineer@lemmy.ml avatar

I think peacocks are justified in vanity, though of course peacock vanity is largely human projection (look at that bird, strutting around like he's so great!). They've got the plumage. Why shouldn't they be proud of it?

Since it's hot summer, my rattos also got a cooling mat (ought to be consumed immadietly, though) and a ceramic plate meant to cool down in the night and provide some relief from heat during the day.

The hammocks are sewn and done by myself and my girlfriend with a standard kit using second hand blankets (to be more eco-friendly) and old clothes.

The result is rather nice, I think!

Kiara, Afum and Skye. Two of them are rescued from the lab and the last one was caught in the wild and domesticated. They are a little over a year now.

Deijin, in have fish

it's a good fish

Deykun, in Most bees, including honey bees and bumble bees, cannot fly at night. They are diurnal, meaning they only fly and pass along pollen during the day. Bees can crawl at night, however.

BedSharkPal, in "Large" creature — with 20 arms — found lurking in Antarctic sea. It’s a new species

I’m so glad they called the animal ‘large’ instead of, oh I don’t know, giving any actual measurements.

RattlerSix,

I found another article that said it’s up to 8 inches

BedSharkPal,

Ok, so spooky but not nightmare fuel. This is the closure I needed, thanks!

Lemmylefty,
@Lemmylefty@lemmy.world avatar

While eight inches is large in some contexts, as far as creatures go I was hoping for something the size of a horse.

HunnyBadger,

I was expecting a large creature to occupy a 10' x 10' square.

RattlerSix,

An 20 legged Antarctic ocean horse would be pretty scary

Bread,

It could be anywhere between the size of a wolf to a mountain. Is that not specific enough for you? /s

Jesus Christ, it looks like the Earth is so hot we’ve awoken the Deep Ones frozen in the depths

I have read At the Mountains of Madness. I know where this is going.

Nice, now we can identify it before we wipe it off the face of the Earth

Millie, in Adorable Moth-Size Bats Found in the Pacific Islands’ Largest Bat Cave

Moth-sized? That looks slightly smaller than the biggest moths in the world.

Someone either super loves this fish, or this is for a research project. I really want to know which.
