My daughter called me crying. He cat may be dying, cancer likely, and I don't know what we can do to help. They tug our heart strings, these warm fluffy cushions we take photos of, don't they?
@Rasta Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's cat's illness. It's heartbreaking not to be able to do anything to help. 😢
Our daughter and SIL recently lost their 15 and 16 year old cats within days of each other. One had cancer and the other kidney disease. We were all devastated.
But one little ray of sunshine came during all of this pain. My SIL rescued a 4 week old kitten from a storm drain just days before the older cats passed. He's helped to bring so much comfort and cheer to the household.
@GertrudeZane You knew we lost our cat two weeks ago? Our oldest, the feral rescue (as weeks old kitten), was 16-18, I forget now. But a long time. the last one was 18 too. It was a very painful day. I wasn't sleeping then, so at 3am I picked her up, and I knew. I bathed her, toweled her and woke my wife and we made her comfortable. She could not get up, and she passed that day. Heartbreaking as you can imagine. But we have two more to help comfort us, Jasper is also mourning, he only knew her

I'm glad you have two other cats to help bring you comfort. Please give them each an extra scritch on the neck from me (only if they like being scritched of course). ❤️
@GertrudeZane Yes, we are. Mostly I'm being really comforting to Jasper, he's the one we got to replace Buddy so he was the second male in Maya's life and while he chased her all over the house, he can't understand where she is now. He's had such a hard time, looking for her, and feeling lonely. So, he's always on my computer desk, under my arms, close to me
@GertrudeZane he was a rescue that was mistreated. Thrown from a car along a secondary road, someone took him to a rescue shelter and some tried to adopt him but returned him as unmanageable. Of all the cats at the shelter, that's the one my wife picked. And he became my cat lol, loves me more. But, it's been a journey. He's naturally a wreck in cars. Years of special treatment, he travels well with us now
