@thepoliticalcat I did come in eventually and gave her a hug, despite being abandoned for months, starved and viciously attacked with a comb.

"abandoned for months" = "left at home briefly while human had human fun," and "viciously attacked with a comb" = "groomed."

@thepoliticalcat starved was actually: I ate my dinner, but that was a few hours ago and I'm hungry. Abandoned was that the tall one was home, but I wanted the preferred human. I am perfectly capable of grooming myself. It's only because she is checking me for fleas and dandruff that she is attacking me so often at the moment.

@Colin I don't like being groomed one bit more than you do, dear (possibly less), but one must present a decent appearance to the world at large (it's only polite). Ask the PH when she has a free moment if she remembers the Japanese phrase for the duty to look presentable in the outside world?
