I can not find the setting that disables dms.

Most of the Lemmy instances seem to require an email to sign up. That's fine, except most of the places you would go to sign up for email want you to... already have an email. And often a phone number. And almost always a first name, last name, and birthday....

I rent so I cannot set up a wired system. I need two of them and preferably they'd be okay in severe weather. Thunderstorms are common in spring / autumn as is severe weather including tornadoes. In fact my house nearly got hit by one two months ago. Fun times. Summers are hot and sometimes humid. Currently 90s. Triple digits...

It would be an interesting shot across the bow to corporate controlled social media to show opensource, open access social medias growth. I'm sure its in an exponential phase. It also would seem important to the community to know. Is there a way to query across the fediverse to look at user numbers?

Mostly tongue in cheek, but perhaps it would be a good place for dissenting opinions and might provide a central community for the instance if people posted to it.

Currently the list of communities in the sidebar are sorted alphabetically, however the ones beginning with lower-case letters are sorted to the bottom of the list. Would it be possible to get that fixed so that the list is sorted without being case-sensitive? I realize it's a pretty minor thing in the broad scope of everything...

I just started using jerboa and lemmy itself and I can't seem to locate options to get notifications on replies to comments. I'm just curious if it's possible and I'm totally blind not finding it or if it's not available.

I believe more and more people will escape to lemmy sooner or later, and I already see 3 different communities for the same thing (selfhosted) here on lemmy. Time will tell which one will be the most active, but lets assume all of them will be equally active and the desire emerges to combine the two communities about the same...
