Bafang motor, 1000W vs BBSHD

I bought a Bafang mid-drive motor kit from california-ebikes, I chose a 750W BBSHD, 44t chainring, 17 AH battery. My goal is a moderate range comfortable cruiser, not speed, etc.

I chose the HD because I want reliability.

They shipped me a 1000W motor by accident. My question is, given that I want durability and reliability, and moderate speeds (I'm old; if I wanna go fast I drive my race car) should ship this 1000W back and insist on the HD model, or will the 1000W, run a low to moderate demand, get me the same reliability?

eeltech,

So apparently there’s no such thing as a 750w bbshd, what happens is they take a 1000w motor and lock/throttle down to 750w, maybe for legal/regulation purposes?

So what people do is the other way around, they purchase the ones sold as 750w and unlock to achieve full 1000w potential!

I guess in your case, are you sure it’s unlocked to 1000w? If so, you could in theory get the programming cable and lock/throttle it down to 750w yourself
