@screwtape My secret is: I use Org-mode only for

  • Denote (note taking)
  • Daily TODO management
  • Documents which I want to convert to PDF/HTML later

Meaning: only the bare minimum.

For other things like READMEs etc. I prefer Markdown mode, since it is the most widely supported format for non-Emacs users.

I was thinking to open and close headings. Hang on let me just actually do this at least once myself.

this is actually brain-breakingly nuts. So I can navigate to my org file (original toot)

issue M-x org-mode

And then execute code blocks, the buffer, open or close headings. This feels insane to me. Moreso than normal.

@dekkzz76 @screwtape @matto @82mhz Having said what I did in my previous post, I actually find the idea interesting to create a Gopher with Org. I need to explore that.

Changing major mode to org-mode doesn't make the elpher buffer writable. However it does allow org-mode that doesn't involve changing the buffer to work (shift-tab to change fold levels of the buffer and so forth, tab to open and close a drawer/heading, code execution that doesn't print results).

In order to change the buffer it needs to be saved to a new file (C-x C-w) or something like that.

At first I worried that Life In Plain Text was too powerful 1/2

i concur, but it would have been fun to live edit your gopher post professing your change from lisp to dotnet
