I forgot I was going to mention @RussSharek @SocialGaff new episode of two clowns in a closet, featuring banner art! It's fun because their self-description is the exact opposite ( #'complement ?) of the lispy gopher climate.
Will talk briefly about doing a bandpass with fftw using code I found on my gopher, but I didn't re-execute it in time for this liveisode

Do you have ideas, how we could make Lisp more popular and used in widely in commercial companies?

screwtape,
@screwtape@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@amoroso
Hmm. Great article. It has about three gists.

  1. The CLX McCLIM CLIM II backend (maintained by @jackdaniel) is an incredible and ideal asset
  2. It basically says that @jackdaniel's ECL's sffi's ffi:c-progn is of extreme and fundamental importance since C kinda won microcomputing
  3. It says lisp needs to resolve @amszmidt toot above: https://mastodon.social/@amszmidt/112443467752935129 and gives as a direction MIT's historical AI repository (I lost my link, who has it handy?) sumo tarball approach.

One of my uni student computer friends has gotten too powerful to really ever need help or commentary with their bog standard Micro$oft classwork.

What advice should I give to make their computer life harder?

screwtape,
@screwtape@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@CryogenicIce9 hah, well the one I was wriggling my eyebrows at was that they need to shuck visual studio and move to emacs on windows as a first taste of software freedom.

@indigoparadox yeah, hang on, I'll find something to quote at you in a moment on the topic of prolog and this.

screwtape,
@screwtape@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@indigoparadox okay, remember I'm working with drafts of books written between Sandewall's retirement in 2010 and last visible activity in 2014. In AICA-SYSTEMS-1 at the start there's:

"3.2.4 The Prolog Language
An account of Prolog as a representation language is to be added here. Notice the relation to ICL in Section 6.4.

3.2.5 The Common Expression Language
Discuss how it relates to the previous ones. Many points in common with KIF [Knowledge Interchange Format -st], but more legible.." so

screwtape,
@screwtape@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@indigoparadox but there is finished writing about prolog basically as one of the antecedents to Sandewall's work. Sandewall's basic goal was to use his experience to reconcile all the very-disparate strains of knowledge-based intelligent agent research.

screwtape,
@screwtape@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@indigoparadox 7/1 ICL is

6.4 Interagent Communication Language and OAA
..used by the Open Agent Architecture http://ai.sri.com/software/OAA
..ICL.. incorporates important aspects of Prolog.

This is the language by which software individuals in a leocommunity talk to each other.

screwtape,
@screwtape@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@simon_brooke
yeah, there's a sport to trying to find the things people got rid of after Sandewall went dark.
@indigoparadox

@simon_brooke
it's gonna get really cool once we go through Sandewall's microzoo lab. (To be clear, this is basically a self-playing casual game of a zookeeper taking care of a toy zoo. It's not slang for microzoology.).

  1. extremely cool
  2. The thing is, while rolling back experienced computer performance/degrowthing computing clearly has to happen
    I think hand-wired 8 bit computing is an educational rather than practical thing. (Obviously 8 bit AVR MCUs are a practical thing). 32 bit physical lisp machines on fpgas! (Eventually)

Unlike me, you should talk to @amszmidt. What do you think about the existing port/emulation of the 1985 LM-3 to as a starting point for a modern lisp computer (instead of the scheme things that happen sometimes)? (I've tried and failed to get involved because of excuses. ;_;).

I forgot the LM discussion of Actually Using The Extra Bits Available.

( is a rust lib that creates a veilid node per application which participates in a network, and gets messages 'to you' to you from the greater network. You publish properties on 'your' node, or it has a torrenting form for larger media items). https://veilid.com
"Being a veilid node" is one page of rust

-> put in C
-> cffi

What do you think about this unconventional private internetworking? I think "the community" should capture this.
