For what I seen too, the UI is quite stretched. Like Bethesda didn’t thought about it. But not really their fault, it’s not like this update was announced a couple of years ago…
On some discords people were pissed because you could supposedly always do it through the INI files which isn’t a good trade off for what it did to mods. My ultrawide is used in long portrait and I’ve never used it for gaming so its all negatives for me. Not that I have time for gaming lately and mods will probably be caught up before I get any free time again, if I ever do…
Fallout 4 was fine. Fuck Preston Garvey. Fallout New Vegas is a contender for GOAT. Outer Worlds was fun for a minute but not quite there, but I think it is better than FO4 overall.
Putting outer worlds above fallout 4, hot take. Personally I really enjoyed outer worlds a lot but it felt so empty after spending any time in any location. Fallout 4 feels so alive all the time, the detail all around and the sheer volume of stuff to do and fine and explore makes it great to me, even aside from the limiting faction based main story
Yeah, it is a very hot take. I never finished my playthrough in FO4, I remember feeling as though I really had no meaningful choices and that the crafting system really de-valued finding loot and legendary items. I hated getting power armor handed to me 20 minutes into the game. I think I should give it another go with more realistic expectations going in this time.
I have a list going. There's about 15 major fallout fangame projects right now. I've considered writing an article because there's so many. Hell Fallout: Vault 13 is another one that got some buzz about 2 weeks ago.
Nice. Is it going to contain projects that are abandoned, have been rebranded, are in a extended hiatus, or rarely/infrequently receive updates?
I used to track a few but figuring out what was still being worked on was a challenge.
Some that come to mind are Fallout 4 New Vegas (Fallout NV in Fallout 4’s engine), The Capital Wasteland Project (Fallout 3 in Fallout 4’s engine), FreeFT (an open source version of Fallout Tactics), Fallout 3/NV in OpenMW (an open source engine for TES Morrowind), and all the Van Buren fan recreations.
It will focus on total conversions of the main games. So Miami, Frontier, that mod that's set in Oregon, the Russian one for Fallout 2 (can't remember the name ATM), London, the Van Buren Remake, etc. I've never heard of Fallout 3 in OpenMW but I'll be including that now. That sounds neat.
Problem is I made this list awhile ago and never checked if the projects were active or not. I'll be checking that. But its gonna be anything I've seen that I though looked cool, no matter inactivity or how early in development.
I'll even throw in a mention of similar games like Ashes 2063.
No offense to anyone who enjoys them, but I’m so sick of the “[bad] game is good now!” narrative. Fallout 76 is a six year-old game, and was in development for several years before that. In the context of game reviews (which I care about), Release Date is important, it’s when it has the most exposure, the most sales, and when review embargos end. So if you can’t have your game fully-completed by then, you probably shouldn’t release a half-finished, buggy game. Right?
Games like No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, and others might literally be better now than at launch… But what are we supposed to do, have reviews regularly updated to match the current state of a game? Actually, I would like that, if games journalists could do this. But until then, the game needs to be fully completed on launch, or suffer your permanent bad score…
I’m just waiting for cross progression to play again. I’m not fucking grinding everything again nor am I going to rebuild my wonderful little house. Fortunately, both Phil Spencer is also peeved by it and Todd Howard said it’s up to the team if they are annoyed enough to go ahead with it.
I’d 100% start playing again so I could play on my pc with my gf on ps5. For now though we’re fine with her playing through fo4 on the Playstation while I do my billionth new vegas run
Doing the same myself. Trying to finish New Vegas since the last time I played it bricked my ED-E, then do a playthrough of 4 and actually finish the story after the hundreds of hours I’ve played.
