@skinnylatte@Alon my daughter could safely walk to school as a five-year-old unaccompanied, and there’s marginal risk for gun violence (esp. in schools). From a free-range parent’s perspective, this is hard to beat. It’s not all roses, but there is a kernel of truth to the positive stereotypes around some QoL matters. And the on-work/off-work culture is a lot more healthy than the continuous grind culture I came from. The place forced me to slow down a lot.
