I do know that a huge chunk of indians are on #instagram, but what the fuck? why are there so many less of us here on the fedi? the #tumblr side is just mostly bollywood or soap opera stuff which im not really into, so...
Indians on reddit nowadays are the biggest edgelords and I can guarantee most users there are at it to build an image - ‘my lovely cat’ this that. I knew it wasn’t going to be the same when ToI Bangalore did a full page article/interview of the mods or /r/india. Reddit in India exploded after that.
Just look at the recent API issue - they protested just for the heck of it ‘since everyone is doing it’ only to be back a few days later. The Brits have left but the subservient nature remains.
They didn’t even put up a fight. It was just, “Everyone else is doing it, let’s join the bandwagon by holding a candlelight vigil by making this sub private for a few days. Just so we aren’t left out.” Eye wash, as I commented elsewhere.
