One thing worth discussing with all this business was Meta's recent attempt to push out , their "science LLM" which would shit out fake scientific papers en masse by user request.

They had to drop it due to outcry and backlash, because it was too stupidly easy to get it to generate fake and harmful "scientific papers" with false references (compare this to Yan's recent (correct) criticism of ChatGPT/Bing, where Galactica was the same but "science-y").

In case you're curious about:

  1. If they've changed their stance on misinformation (they have not!), and
  2. Whether community push/feedback works (it does!)

(everything that applied to Galactica applies to Bing/ChatGPT, for the record)
