Thanks to @kd for highlighting this #Irish government survey on climate change.
Worth filling out, if only to counter the individualistic bias in the survey itself and leave comments.
I feel like they want answers like everyone should buy a new EV and install a wind turbine, rather than face the systemic changes like critically reducing car use that are necessary and making public transport/cycling better.
@Lamhfada I filled that out but I got angrier and angrier as it progressed. 100s of questions about the things I should be doing. Turning off lights, eating vegan (are they tasty?) and transforming my house into a tupperware spacecraft. Not much about what I think the government or EU or corporations should be doing. I'm bloody furious now. :dancingpenguin:
@Lamhfada@alisca the heat pump thing made me full of actual rage. I am probably exactly the right person to target with that and even yet - I have been told repeatedly that my house would require excessive change for it to be suitable for heat pumps. And my house is about 20 years old. There are people living in much older properties! I have solar and an EV. Works great. I got rid of my chimney and fireplace. B3 rated! Would get a heat pump if it made sense and it does fucking not.
@oisin@Lamhfada I don't know I like to think that I can be pretty unhinged when I have my blood up. It was the fifth or sixth mention of a 'heat pump' that pushed me over the edge
@Lamhfada@kd The reason seems to be pets' meat consumption. Whoever compiled the survey was never in a pet food factory to see the left over junk that goes into the stuff.
