2/ And via Brandon Van Grack:

The slightest glimmer of hope that the Mar-a-Lago case could happen this year. The Court granted DOJ request to prepare a jury questionnaire even though much of the court schedule is up in the air. DOJ had asked for a February 2 deadline; court set it at February 28.

sepfeiffer,

@GottaLaff almost a month delay

@sepfeiffer Could've been worse

sepfeiffer,

@GottaLaff she delays everything about a month

@sepfeiffer Yes, over and over

bdsint,

@GottaLaff

I'm afraid I'm going to have to be the pessimist on this one.

It's pretty obvious that Judge Cannon is determined to delay the trial, but at the same time hold the May trial date for as long as possible to prevent any other Trump trials from scheduling in that time period.

@GottaLaff set for Feb 28th seems quite unlikely they'll get to it in 2023 then? Less than a glimmer I'd think.

@ChukG Lol, Feb 2024. So no.

But the question is about the May 2024 date, not anything else. How long will she delay?

@GottaLaff She does delay everything, and ppl who know far more than I do attribute that to partisanship. They are probably right, but I think she is also so incredibly far out of her depth that she buys time just to learn the basics of her job. I think she has no idea what she is doing, & knows the circuit court knows it. She should never have gotten the case.

@3dogcouch Agree. It’s both.

@GottaLaff I wonder what kind of calculations are going on in Cannon's head.
She's already delayed the FL case so everything else will conclude first.
Is she reading the same tea leaves as the rest of us and seeing that he's going to be found guilty many times before her case? Is she starting to think more about her personal legacy and not seeming like a total hack than about her "loyalty" to the orange thing?

@colo_lee It's only one tiny ruling. I draw no conclusions from it.
