@nixCraft in the beginning I tested fedora, opensuse, Ubuntu, but did not find satisfaction. not long after I discovered #ArchLinux. and never looked back since.
Not until very recently, I came across #guix path recently and installed it on the server, maybe I'll make the move for my laptop and desktop after familiarizing with it.
@nixCraft Nah, been mainly on arch for over a decade, now nixos ~4 yrs and counting, still ready to move out the minute something interesting comes along. Even on my servers - it was ubuntu, then debian, now nixos. It may seem like it's over until it's not.
@nixCraft I started out on mandrake linux, switched to debian after a few years and stuck with it... I don't feel the need to change the distribution anymore, since I can (if possible) adjust the current one to my needs...
@nixCraft It depends on how you look at it. I’ve switched between Arch and Fedora a few times in the last few years, but for the last 10 I always go back to Arch for desktops. I have been very consistent with Debian for servers.
@nixCraft
KaliLinux > Manjaro Gnome > Manjaro KDE > ArchLinux
the first 3 hops were made in about 1.5Years, i also tested some other distros very shortly but now i just realize its just a different DE with a custom theme most of the time.
@nixCraft I installed #Archlinux 11 years ago, and it was the end of back and forth jumping from #Ubuntu to #debian, then to #mint with stop on #Centos, with a few cross hops for 3 years.
Now I'm just happy, and hop from company to company once per 4 years ¯_(ツ)_/¯
@nixCraft I landed on #ubuntu Mate a while back. Driver support is solid and the GUI is just the right amount of customizable. #popos does seem really neat tho.
@nixCraft I was confused between Debian and Arch so I am just dual booting debian and arch. I think I have settled for now and if I feel like using anything else, I am just going to use a VM. :blobmiou:
