Xfce 4 and other Linux desktop managers are popular because of their user-friendly interface and efficient performance, especially RAM usage. Which desktop manager do you use on #Linux?
@nixCraft I've largely found Mate to be an excellent balance of a lot of things -- including efficiency -- while still being a bit more capable and modern than Xfce.
@nixCraft
XFCE. Christ it needs work.
I want to try KDE seriously again but the 3 to 4 transition catastrophe all those years ago still puts me off, but people say good things about new KDE.
@nixCraft Currently using XFCE4 because I found a theme I like. I don't care about memory use. Gnome on Wayland with a laptop touchpad beats, imo, anything not sold by Apple. I'd be happy using Gnome if it would allow me to make it something I enjoy looking at.
@nixCraft Does Enlightenment still have much popularity? I liked E17 (which was infamously in development for about 13 years) before switching to xfce 8 or 9 years ago due to the problems with integrating it with many modern programs. I still miss it in many respects.
@nixCraft Plasma, and it's really great to see Valve having adopted it for the Steam Deck, the upcoming Plasma6 looks to be a really nice release with all the upgrades
