Which car does your imagination associate with ? A European buyer's perspective would be a plus. Also, add and visions for even more points. Boost please.

@darth within the limits of the analogy... Debian on old thinkpad. a series 2 Landrover. it just keeps going but I can take the bonnet off easily and quickly and access and fix any part of the vehicle. And there was a generation of folk that were taught how to strip and rebuild the same engine at school/cadets/army. Also mine is so old that it was built before the gov introduced certain road taxes and checks, so it is exempt. It can carry heavy loads up steep hills and is highly reconfigurable, e.g. can have the 'tilt' (tent like roof) on or off.

@em not bad! I like it :)

@darth
Mac: BMW. It's not bad, but the owners tend to think they are very special.
Linux: Hilux (remember that Top Gear episode?) or Unimog.
Windows 2000 and up: Lada. It's the only choice unless you can import something from the other side of the wall yourself.
Windows 9x: Trabant. Like a Lada but crap.

@leeloo yep, north pole :)

@darth
I was thinkin of the episode where they try to kill a Hilux. In the ocean, on fire, on top of a building being demolished.

@leeloo okay, I don’t remember that one. But clearly Hilux stands for something that can take a beating a carry on.
