Updating myself on free/libre software after 10y. WOW! 🤯 (stopped using proprietary software 20y ago, around Reason2.0)

  • 20y ago: "Audio on ?! what? where? haha" 🌑

  • 15y ago: "so frustrating.. it may never work.." 🌒

  • 10y ago: "ah if only someday.. some stuff is really interesting and promising.." 🌓

  • today: WOW. 💥🌕💥

Most interoperable audio platform ever! Such polished software! So much dedication+love!

Among the most amazing pieces of free/libre software I tested in the last few months (but not limited to...) are:

- 7.0 (wow! remember launching versions 1.0 then 2.0!! so featurefull, flexible, robust now!)

-, one of many new free/libre synths, part of the https://surge-synthesizer.github.io/ suite

  • , incredible DAW reminding of AudioMulch (!)

  • , one of the first mature audio software that gave me hope 15y ago, as a drum machine.
