I'm looking to hire someone to do some slightly technical illustrations for How Comics Were Made. There are a few pieces of equipment and processes that have no great photographic or illustrative elements out there, but I can provide reference images and rough drawings. If you’re interested, send me links to your work? I’m not looking for blueprint-style perfection, but something that conveys the meaning and is accurate.
@glennf check out Sjors' portfolio: https://www.sjorstrimbach.com/ - Has a background in creating illustrations for consultancy & tech projects. Creative and great to work with. 👍
in an effort to expand my music library and also share cool stuff, fedi, I beseech thee... lend me your ears (and boosts)
if you listen to, make, or have a friend who makes electronic music that fits any of these descriptions:
sounds like the early 2000s, especially if it's some kind of dnb, jungle, or ambient
nostalgic futurism that isn't dnb or ambient (and especially not synthwave!)
sounds like racing game music from back when it was too good
vaporwave but original (as in, not sample based) and not synthwave
weird and wacky experimental electronica that can work in the background
bass heavy but low intensity music that tickles the brain
just really pretty and interesting ambient or drone stuff in general
please drop names and links here. by all means, plug yourself and your friends if you want to
bandcamp, mirlo, faircamp, and similar links are preferable, but any link will do if those aren't available. extra bonus points if creative commons or similar
I think these styles of music are amazing and rather underrated, especially since a lot of the people who like these styles are just playing random youtube mixes in the background, so they have no idea what they're actually listening to or who to support
I also find this kind of music annoyingly hard to discover, which isn't helped by those mixes either, because most of them are either drawing from the same small handful of artists, or just playing video game soundtracks
I want to change that, even if only a little bit. for that reason, please boost
aside from just hoping to spread this post around, I'd love to write about what I hear on my website eventually too, play it during livestreams with the titles on screen, and of course share it with all my non-fedi friends
Hi, I need a more Covid safe dentist in the north bay of San Francisco. I asked if mine had upgraded their air mitigation to more than just one purifier (as the reception office staff now don’t mask) and they are not nor will not.
I do plan on buying my own far UV but it would be nice to go to a place that understands this already.
#velotaf#cub#conseil#recommendation
What are people using for task/habit tracking nowadays? I was using Habitica for a long time, but it's grating on me now. Lightweight and Open Source if possible. Thanks for your recs!
I haven't used Times New Roman since 2008. But, type nerd that I am, I still ended up doing a semi-deep dive into the typefaces I recommend you use instead.
We want a wake-up light replacement: these things that start increasing light brightness before the alarm. Would be good if it doesn't sound like a tin can.
(The previous tin can died today after ~6 years of service 🪦🫡)
I do not want an app that can get obsolete and brick the device. I don't want to bring the phone to my bed. No subscription. Preferably real buttons instead of touch.
Anyone having something like this? Can't find honest non-affiliates 😭
Hello, happy Thursday, Fediverse friends! Over the past few days, I've been dealing with a slight fever and took the opportunity to dive into some good books. The latest one is a re-read that never fails to move me: "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein. If you haven't picked it up yet, I highly recommend it. #Books#Recommendation#TheArtofRacingintheRain#GarthStein#Reading#ThrowbackThursday

Hey #MastoArt community: I need a #recommendation for a pocket sized mechanical pencil. And by that I mean one that I stick into my back pocket vertically without it sticking out too much, if it all.
I have a regular-sized mechanical pencil I love, a trusty old Zebra, but it gets stuck on things in my back pocket - chairs, etc.
Lead size is not important, I'll take what I can get as long as the #pencil fits in a pants pocket.
We had a question from someone asking, what Mastodon client for Windows do people use which is accessible with NVDA. I thought here might be the perfect place to post that question? What do YOU use, or how do you access Mastodon on PC? Please let us know!
Hey, can anyone tell me some games where you start off in a trashed base, or even just ruins, and you've gotta fix it up?
Bonus points for sci-fi, NPCs who'll move in, and town management.
Prefer not first person perspective, but will still look at #gaming#recommendation#openToAll
Anyone have a recommendation for a fediverse friendly WordPress webhost? I don't need much. I have a couple of blogs (one on hiatus) with their own domains and not much traffic, and some email forwarders.
I want to be able to run the activitypub plugin that my current host blocks.
Prefer US, Australian, Singaporean, or European location.
I need a recommendation for a new computer screen for my home office setup. Ideally I need something with USB-C docking built in such that I can switch between my Windows work laptop and my home Linux desktop as seamlessly as possible.
Since I mostly write code, I need one of those double-wide screens, usually around 49". But I don't want one of those over-curved gaming screens as they take up too much space depth-wise on my desk.
