@renchap@MastodonEngineering Mastodon strips markdown in texts from other servers and fediverse platforms. Not only are paragraphs and lists stripped, but even simple markdown such as italic, bold, and strikethrough are removed. As it compromises the meaning of the original text, this is clearly a bug.
As for Mastodon itself there have been many tickets over the years suggesting simple markdown features. That such a basic yet vital function is still missing is frankly disappointing. #Mastodon
