For anyone following along, the post now does show up in search.

So there is indeed a delay between when a server knows about a post (via a hashtag, for example), and when it shows up in search.

@stefan have you enabled full text search? (Requires Elasticsearch iirc)

@thisismissem Yep, I've been using the pre-release versions on my instance these past few weeks.

The search works pretty well here. I can find my own posts, and also posts from people I don't follow or interact with that were picked up by my instance.

So it's really just that when I search for my own posts from mastodon.social, they don't come up, but the server should know about them, since they come up when I browse the hashtags I used.

@stefan When did you do the upgrade? It might simply take some time after you opted in for mastodon.social to pick up your posts in their search index, and the hashtag will still be indexed from an earlier run. 🤔

@gunchleoc I opted in a few weeks ago, I've been using the pre-release builds on my personal instance.

Search works fine here.

I guess the delay does make sense, but that really just makes hashtags a bit more useful, if you need up-to-date information.
