@wendypalmer@negative12dollarbill Out of curiosity, I checked JSTOR and they have a policy to support name changes (due to transitioning or any other reason). This is likely similar across academia.
...but there's a catch. This only works smoothly so long as the actual publisher agrees and for work hosted there but not directly published by platforms like Sage or JSTOR, there isn't a guarantee all of them (i.e. certain entities with religious affiliations) would all be on the same page.
