@Handout@ThinkingSapien 100% this. Mayor/cop Adams and the media love to fuel the idea that NYC is a hellhole in need of even more funding for one of the world's largest military forces.
@ThinkingSapien Pretty sure it's mostly nonsense. I mean, sure, theft happens. But the media seem to be obsessed with shoplifters and squatters right now, so they're going out of their way to get footage.
Kind of like how Boeing had one big failure (where nobody got hurt) and then the media covered every other little thing they normally wouldn't even notice and now people are scared to fly on Boeing planes.
