bfg9k,

PLEASE JUST SELL IT IN AUSTRALIA

Psiczar,

It cracks me up when they have a sale and push discounted Steam Deck accessories on the front page, but they won’t sell me the handheld.

Cossty, (edited )

When are they giving them to physical stores to sell? As far as I know GameStop sells refurbished steam decks, that’s it. This way they are not really getting new customers, only people with steam accounts are buying them.

helenslunch,

They can’t possibly afford the 30% they’d have to pay to retail stores!

I’m guessing Japan took a smaller cut.

helenslunch,

Really dumb to compare revenue for a $500+ piece of hardware to a $40 game…

LoamImprovement,

Or a $60 game, or an $80 game, or…

Like seriously, I wish they’d put it in a sidebar somewhere so we can get another game in the list, if I want another deck, I’ll buy another deck.

I think it's more like $350+ but your point remains

Sylvartas,

Wait, these charts are ranked by value, not volume ? This is stupid

helenslunch,

Ranked by revenue

eutsgueden,

Yeah that’s kinda strange. Hardware shouldn’t be included in top game sales…

DerisionConsulting, (edited )

What about a $1,500 game?
…steampowered.com/…/Ascent_FreeRoaming_VR_Experie…

There should be a few options for how the list is shown, at minimum the choice between units sold or total revenue.

helenslunch,

What about it?

Interesting find. I guess the target audience are VR arcades/rentals. Considering they probably return the investment in a couple dozen sessions it’s reasonable price (for a business).

There are games at 70$/€, 60, 20, 5 and 2… how would you compare all them? Tracking dollars*hours played ratio or whatever? … and then how you put DLC and bundle in the equation?

By Occam Razor I think this gives you an actual mathematical answer to a very specific question: which released product is emptying wallets faster?

Maybe not the best question to ask, but a question Gaben can answer while staying neutral: MSI (or any other company) could sell SteamOS handheld and doing so faster than SteamDeck. If MSI is not selling SteamOS handheld on Steam, it’s because they prefer handled with the OS from the same company that made Zune and Windows Mobile.

Sylvartas,

It’s a sales chart. Just compare volume sold ? I don’t really care how much money the people behind it made. I want to see what’s selling.

None of those games are included in the title of this article.

how would you compare all them?

How would you compare an apple to an orange? You wouldn’t.
