'Trump should be worried': Republican strategist warns he's wasting his campaign cash

Donald Trump is likely annoyed by how much money President Joe Biden has been raising, but the former president should worry instead on the campaign cash he himself is wasting, a Republican strategist argued Saturday

Susan Del Percio’s column for MSNBC on “why Trump should be worried” delves into Biden’s “clear” advantage and the impact it will have on a man who, she argues, puts great stock in financial worth.

“These kinds of strong fundraising totals make for great headlines,” Del Percio wrote of Biden’s $26 million campaign fundraiser. “But they must also irk Trump.”

But Del Percio argues Trump should pull his focus away from how much Biden has raised and look instead at what his Democrat challenger is doing with the millions he raises.

“How you spend your campaign funds is what matters,” she wrote. “And so far, Biden has chosen wisely.”

banneryear1868,

One of those articles that’s been on repeat since 2015.

Trump doesn’t need campaign money. All he has to do is hold a rally. The media covers everything he says and does 24/7. He gets free coverage daily.

Look at this point Biden can spend billions and still not change a single Trump vote to Biden one. Trump a cult and the media helps him. And still 43% of Republicans going vote for Trump which is fucking nuts.

If the media would blacklist him and all his money going to legal fees maybe he would go the fuck away.

But as long as they keep reporting he doesn’t need money to campaign.

banneryear1868,

I think Matt Christman said it best that “Trump is a tumor made out of America.”

Yeah it was winter 2015 when the bi-partisan media began covering Trump as a frontrunner. It wasn’t even conservative media Trump’s cult was sharing as memes online either, it was compilations of liberal news anchor’s with “shocked” faces at every stupid Trump tweet. Washington Post (I think?) even had the infamous Trump lie tracker. Some people still gaze at his two impeachments, legal troubles, moral failings, health issues, and despite this in relation to his current position keep obsessing about the next big thing right around the corner.

I mean all Trump did was say the most outrageous things and media covered it over and over. So he keeps doing that and they give him press. He is the embodiment of any press is good press.

Xanthobilly,

I actually think this represents something much more ominous. Everyone on here assumes he’s incompetent because he’s bankrupted companies before. He’s done that with reason, and likely it was because he’s laundered money using the trick. I think in the case of the RNC and his campaign funds it indicates he’s found fraudulent means to pay for everything and he has access to tremendous amounts of dark money via foreign adversaries. The Truth Social IPO is one possible source. I actually doubt that one because he likely sees it as his own money. PACs will close the gap, but I’d be willing to bet there’s some other scheme filling his coffers. Draining alternative sources of money for GOP candidates also enables him to manipulate everyone down ballot since they’ll be aware of the scheme or stuck on his teat. This is a very, very bad sign for politics and we’re at the endgame for a US totalitarian government.

AA5B,

He’s getting his legal bills paid without using his own money - he’s getting away with grifting again

The media gives him endless free publicity

MystikIncarnate,

Pfff, he doesn’t need to campaign. He could die tomorrow, and all of this followers would still vote for him. Then the secret service would have to puppet him around, weekend at Bernie’s style.

I just hope that enough people realize that they need to go out and vote to keep him out that they actually fucking do it. His followers are not the majority, so as long as anyone with more than rocks in their head goes and casts their ballot, he can’t win. But convincing habitual non-voters to actually give enough of a damn to go and vote is basically impossible. Voter turnout is abysmal.

AngryCommieKender,

Voter turnout isn’t great, but the last few elections have had record voter turnout consistently. Even in the mid terms. The kids have gotten the message that if they don’t vote the elderly lichs that run this place will fuck them over.

Eatspancakes84,

Dunno man. I have confidence in millennials and the older gen Z, but the new voters… people like Tate and his ilk have been far too successful on TikTok to be sure that these people vote against Trump.

AngryCommieKender,

Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 and by a larger margin in 2020

MystikIncarnate,

37% isn’t something to brag about. Sure, it’s up from what it was previously, but 37%?

C’mon.

AngryCommieKender,
JeeBaiChow,

Exactly. The maga base is a fixed quantity of rabid one way voters. The only thing deciding if he gets back into the oval office is that the Dems and non-trump repubs aren’t caught napping again. Complacency will destroy this democracy.

sturmblast,

Trump has lost more voters than he’s gained.

MyNamesNotRobert,

If he can bankrupt a casino hopefully he can bankrupt the entire republican regime

itsonlygeorge,

He’s doing a pretty good job that’s so far. Looks like they’re doubling down.

lettruthout,

And Trump is siphoning money from down-ticket Republican candidates, right?

Bakkoda,

Yeah he’s wasting money but it isn’t his lol.

Habahnow,

It may not be his, but that’s all money that could instead be used to convince voters to vote for him. On the flip side, he probably is using that money as efficiently as possible, if he’s found guilty or has to sell a bunch of properties, it may turn off some of his supporters. Thankfully, Biden doesn’t appear to have anything like that hanging over his head(maybe the impeachment inquiry, but it’s appearing to be a nothing burger), so he can focus on convincing people to vote for him.

EmptySlime,

At least the money from the main party coffers I think. There will still be wealthy donors and dark money PACs spending money likely still it sounds like. But it is definitely a plus that he’s funneling so much campaign money to his legal troubles.
